SCENE 1: CLASSROOM

Professor: Before you graduate, lets hear the final report of Ms. Quiambao and her
groupmates.
Reporter 1: Good Morning everyone. We are going to report on How to choose the
right interview questions. Kindly open your book on page 100.
Reporter 2: So we are here to give you tips on how to choose the right interview
questions. Take note that there are two types of question, the closed questions and
the open questions.
Reporter 3: Do you have any idea what these questions are? Yes! Ms. Santos.
Michelle: The closed questions require short answers and get statistic data while the
open questions require longer and more depth in answers.
Reporter 3: Well said Ms. Santos! Does everybody understand? Then lets get into
the tips.
Reporter 1: Before doing an interview, it is important to decide what kind of answers
you want. Often, an interview gives different answers and serves different purposes.
We will give you some questions that will help you find the type of interview.
Reporter 2: Questions like, what is the purpose of the interview? What kind of facts
do you want? How do you want to collect the answers, tape recorder or taking
notes? How do you want to present the material, in diagrams or textual form?
Reporter 3: How much do you want the interviewee to control the interview? Or how
much control do you want to have? Do you want the interviewee to explain why he
or she answers the questions in specific way? When you have answered these
questions, it is time to consider if open or closed questions best fulfill your purpose.
Reporter 1: As mentioned earlier, closed questions require short answers with one
word or one phrase. For example yes or no, they give you facts which are easy
to answer and the interviewer keeps control over the interview.
Reporter 2: On the other hand, open questions require more information from the
interviewee. That means that the answers contain more than one or two word
responses. Open questions help the interviewer to go deeper and analyze why
things are the way they are. It gives the interviewee a chance of developing
thoughts or opinions.
Reporter 3: Thats the end of our report. Thank you for listening.
Professor: Do you have questions class?
Students: None!

Professor: Okay then, class dismissed!
