PURPOSE: - SOP FOR CABLE TERMINATIONS FOR HT/LT LINE

SCOPE: - Entire site where the work is undertaken by EIPL

RESPONSIBILITY: - Project Manager and Site Engineers

PROCEDURE: 1) Identification of correct cable for the correct feeder as per the
approved SLD
2) Check Continuity of cores
3) Check Insulation resistance of all cores to earth & between cores
4) Check type of glands used whether single compression /double
compression /weather proof /Flameproof.
5) Drill right size of hole in the gland plate and remove the sharp edges.
6) Check gland tightness.
7) Measure input length for cutting /trimming if necessary.
8) Mark the length of cable for outer insulation removal.
9) Mark the length of cable for cutting the armouring.
10)
Cut the armouring without damage to core /inner extrusion
/sheath.
11)
Insert gland rubber rings, check nut in sequence and tightening
of gland.
12)
Entry of cable to the cable chamber without damage to the core.
13)
Giving proper shape to core, Identify phasing and cut to size.
14)
Mark the length for cutting outer PVC cover
15)
Form the conductor to fit the lug properly on the core.
16)
Apply anticorrosion paste on the conductor.
17)
Select proper die and crimping tool
18)
Crimp properly
19)
Apply sleeve or PVC Tape on the lug end.
20)
Use the right nut bolt, washer and spring washer.
21)
Tighten the terminal; put cable-identifying tag on cable.
22)
Check for proper supporting arrangements for cable below
equipments
23)
Check Insulation resistance check for all cores for power cable
after termination
24)
Ferruling of cores for control cables
25)
Check proper clamping / saddling of cable.
26)
Update the as built drawing.
27)
All disposals of the wastes should be brought to designated area
for disposal.
28)
All SOPs should be strictly followed
