Set Induction: Ask them if they know someone or have
a relative who has fought in a war. Explain that the Civil War is where Capture the Flag originated. Learnable Piece: The primary goal of this activity is to take the enemy flag while also protecting your teams flag. I am looking to see teamwork, good strategy, and good sportsmanship. Presentation of New Material/Directions: Describe the rules of the game, boundaries, and safety procedures.

Then allow both teams 30 seconds to come up with a strategy.

Activity: The students will run around and try to capture
the enemy flag while defending their own. They must be conscious of their flag and jail and also try not to get tagged if they run in the enemy zone.

Possible Modifications: Yell Jailbreak. When I say
jailbreak all of the prisoners from both jails get a free walk back. Lesson Review: Figure out if the students learned anything. Ask them how they displayed good teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.
