Readers Workshop:
Opening: TR reads a book and models all the skills a reader has. SS identify what they
need to do
SS go and read a book individually. Tr calls SS one by one. SS choose a book that they
would like to read at home with a parent. SS practice what they have to say to their
parents.

Writers Workshop
Opening: TR will show and explain the importance of a book cover. TR will show
different covers to give SS and idea of what to do.
SS take their completed work and create a cover for their book. TR and EA walk around
asking SS about their books and stapling them together.

Opening: SS sing and count to 100.

pupils to work on their co-operation skills and team work.
Tuesday
Readers Workshop
Opening: Sing a song the SS are familiar with. Explain to SS that knowing all the words
to a song is like knowing all the words in your favorite book. So when we read the same
book we use the same words over and over again.
TR re-reads, Billy Goats Gruff and change the words that troll says. Allow SS to correct
your mistakes and highlight that they have just read the words from the book. Encourage SS
to correct all the mistakes that the TR has made. Encourage SS to go and read a book that
they have read before at the table.
Closing: TR walks around and conferences with SS. SS put the books back properly in the
tubs.

Readers Workshop
Opening: TR takes up a SS book that they have publish for the publishing party and
begins to read it. Make the connection between reading their own writing and reading their
favorite story.
Reinforce that you need to read some of the exact words. TR points to individual words
while she is reading the book and identify the 1st letter in each word. SS then help TR to
find other words in the book that they recognize. SS then go and read in partners finding
words/letters that they know.
Closing: TR conferences with SS. SS collect their water bottles and get ready for recess.
