Role played in Prophet's life

Outline the part played in the life of Prophet (SAWS) by Each of the following:
Abu Talib (his uncle):

Took over the upbringing of Muhammad, then aged eight, after the death
of the Prophets grandfather.

Trained Prophet in merchant skills.

Warned by the monk, Bahira.

Had a hand in the Prophet's marriage to Khadiiah.

Defended him when the Prophet was threatened by the Quraysh.

His death619, the Year of Sorrow.


Abu Bakr (his friend):

Early (first adult male) convert to Islam.

Helped the Prophet to migrate from Makkah.

His daughter (Ayesha) married the Prophet.

Sacrificed his wealth to the cause of Islam.

Led prayers during Prophet's illnessbecame his successor.

set up Ummah with Prophet in Medina (essentially his right-hand man).


Abu Lahab:

Prophet's uncle:

Ridiculed and opposed him.

Cut his speeches short, cursed him, stirred up trouble for converts.
Abu Sufyan:

A Quraysh leader:

involved in events leading to Badr;

led attack on Medina in 627 (the Fosse):

Surrendered to Prophet at Mecca in 629 (his daughter had married the


Prophet).
Ali (RAA)

Plot to kill Prophet/ Ali slept in his bed/ wore Prophet's green cloak/
Quraysh finally discovered, but Ali escaped punishment and joined the others
later.

Acted as decoy to aid Prophets emigration from Makkah.

Married Prophets daughter Fatima and gave him two grandsons.

Fought bravely in battles, as well as supporting him in his last days.


Halima

Cared for Prophet in her desert home for five years. He enjoyed physical
and spiritual benefits of desert life.
She Lived in the desert: the open, exposed living there suited the constitution of the
Prophet and he grew in health and strength. After two years Halimah took him back
to Aminah, but she was so pleased with his care that Halimah was persuaded to take
him back for another two years. In fact, he stayed a full five years, benefiting from
the clean desert air and a simple but moral upbringing.

Abd ul-Muttalib

Prophets grandfather, looked after Prophet for two years after Aminas
death. He was a strict monotheist and famous for his saintly life.
Aisha

Daughter of Abu Bakr, Prophet's closest friend.


Only twelve when married, he joined in children's games with her.
Moved into her apartment and died in her arms, 632 (11 A.H.)

Bahira

Bahira took Muhammad as the Last Prophet and spoke highly of him.

Khadijah

She became his first and most important wife.


She was the first Muslim.
Spent all of her money for the sake of Islam.
Remained with the prophet in all hardships.
