How to solve this problem?

The problem of an excessively high feed
rate in jaw crushers is solved through the
installation of barriers to create brakes
that slow down the material feeding.
The configuration and number of barriers
will depend on each application, that is,
on the particular operating conditions.
What precautions should be taken
when installing barriers/brakes in
crusher feeders?
The barriers (brakes) should be securely
fastened and have the robustness to
withstand the efforts, strains and impacts
of feed materials; otherwise they may
detach. This would cause serious damage
to the crusher if the barriers fall into the
crushing chamber.

Jaw Crushers

Improper Crusher feeding

Normally, in facilities where large volumes
of materials are processed, we see jaw
crushers being fed incorrectly at high feed
rates along with large sized material.
Therefore, the material is pushed toward
the pitman eye protection plate; consequently, leading to:
- Changes in the dynamic loads;
- Unnecessary bearing housing loads;
- Production loss;
- Breaking of the adjustment system;
- Fall of the toggle;
- Greater frequency in the need to tighten
jaw bolts.

Jaw Crusher feed rate should be controlled. In order to maintain the rate of material feed at a desired level, the feed height
should not exceed 1 (one) meter.

Due to the risk of these barriers coming

loose, an important point is to choose the
correct type and number of barriers to be
installed.
