UNIVERSAL NGS SECONDARY IMPACT CRUSHERS

With the knowledge accumulated over decades of experience

combined with the advice and input from our valued customers,
Universal Engineering has created the NGS Secondary Impact
Crushers. This new line of impact crushers represent the future in
rock crushing, designed to bring more profitability to your operation
by providing a superior, highly cubical product while reducing your
overall operating expense. This impactor offers reduced downtime
for adjustments, fewer wear parts to inventory, and the opportunity
for field modifications to accommodate changes in application and
product requirements.

This impactor features hydraulic-shim adjustment on each impact

curtain. The feed chute is a bolt-on module designed for any one of
several feed components, i.e., screens, feeders, and conveyors. The NGS impactor also allows for
an optional third curtain module as a field kit to enable producers to better control top size and assist
in meeting difficult aggregate specifications.

Other features include interchangeable liners throughout the

impactor, extra large inspection doors, and a single hydraulic
power unit for the hood opening cylinders and each of the
impact curtains. The disc-type rotor is equipped with the “S”
shaped hammers for maximum sustained productivity. Safety
features include an integral rotor lock designed to pin the rotor
to the housing (with the hood in the open position), hood tilt lock
mechanism, and all of the inspection doors are supplied with locks
as an added safety reminder.

The NGS Secondary Impact Crusher is available in a wide range

of sizes with a variety of options to meet ever changing requirements and product specifications.
This horizontal shaft impactor features a low-profile housing making it an excellent choice for both
stationary and portable systems. It also features more relief in the curtains for passing uncrushables,
while providing superior “hold-down” pressure on the secondary curtain for optimum product control.

Universal Engineering employs a qualified staff of engineers and

craftsmen capable of providing thorough application analysis, detailed
engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing. Let us demonstrate
how an NGS Secondary Impact Crusher can improve your bottom

RCP RECYCLE IMPACT CRUSHERS

Universal Engineering has supplied crushing, screening and

associated equipment for recycling applications since 1966.
Over the years continuous design refinements have been
incorporated into our crushers for enhanced performance
and efficiency.

The RCP Recycle Impact Crusher has been specifically

designed to meet the need of the growing market for recycled
concrete and asphalt materials. These Universal crushers
feature an extra-wide feed opening to accommodate large
slabby material more efficiently. The feed opening directs
material into the first of two internal crushing chambers for high
throughput. Hammer and curtain surfaces are high chrome
alloy for low wear and low maintenance.

The heart of the RCP Recycle Impact Crusher is the heavy

duty large diameter rotor. The rotor consists of discs that are
made from high yield strength steel, and include replaceable
face plates. The one-piece rotor incorporates a keyless
shaft and is designed to handle rebar and wire mesh cleanly
and efficiently. This crusher is available as standard with a
4-bar rotor to allow for maximum range of rotor tip speed.
An extra heavy duty 3-bar rotor is available as an option and
particularly well suited for a variety of applications.

standard 4-bar rotor with four rows of “S”
shaped hammers.

RCPR Recycle Impact Crusher featuring

the 3-bar rotor with three rows of heavy
weight hammers for the toughest recycle
applications.
STANDARD SECONDARY IMPACT CRUSHERS

Universal Engineering introduced the Andreas-style impact crusher in the early 1980’s. This simple,
but effective design soon became the standard for the industry.

UNIVERSAL STANDARD DUAL CURTAIN IMPACT crusher

The standard configuration incorporates two gravity hung curtains

positioned above the centerline of the rotor for “true-impact” crushing.
Stage reduction takes place in two crushing chambers. Adjustments
are made easily from the exterior of the crusher.

UNIVERSAL STANDARD TRIPLE CURTAIN IMPACT CRUSHER

The triple curtain impact crusher uses the two gravity-hung
breaking curtains like the standard impact crusher, with a
third curtain incorporated to further control product top-size
and output gradation.

VERSATILITY IS THE KEY

Dual and triple curtain impact crushers continue to be available in a wide variety of sizes to meet your
material crushing needs. Rotor widths range in size from 30” to 90” with maximum feed sizes ranging
from 12” to 16”.

The impact crushers are designed with unobstructed feed and

discharge openings for smooth transition in and out of the crusher.
Curtain liners and hammers are made of high chrome alloy for
long life. No welding is required and hammers are reversible and
replaceable, resulting in less downtime and greater production.
The unique “S” shape hammer design provides a sharp leading
edge for a longer period as the hammer wears. This sharp leading
edge helps the crusher sustain greater capacities longer and with
consistent product gradation.

The Universal Standard Secondary Impact Crusher can be used

efficiently to process a wide variety of materials. With its simple
design and true impact breaking, the Universal Standard Secondary
Impact Crusher makes an efficient, low-cost secondary crusher for
many applications with more worktime, less downtime.
PORTABILITY MEANS PROFIT

A true impact type crusher designed

for dependable, low cost secondary
reduction mounted on a highly-
portable combined in a portable
crushing/screening plant can be a
major asset to any crushing system.
With unsurpassed versatility, these
plants will become the most utilized
piece of equipment you own. The Secondary Impact Portable Plants are available with a horizontal
screen, vibrating grizzly feeder, front, side, or rear conveyors, and always are designed to meet or
exceed your specifications.

Universal portable plants provide an efficient flow of material throughout each transition point. Emphasis
is placed on optimum control of the material flow for flexibility, safety, and overall efficiency. This makes
Universal’s plants easy to set up on the job site and reduces downtime between production runs.

Universal Engineering’s portable recycling plants are designed to take you from job to job, handling
large slabs of concrete and asphalt profitably. Universal Engineering can furnish both single and two-
stage recycle plants that utilize either impact crushing alone or a combination of various crushers.

A typical single-stage portable recycling plant starts with a portable RCP Recycle Impact Crusher
with a vibrating grizzly feeder.

A typical two-stage recycling application includes a

primary and secondary crusher and is used when higher
production and greater flexibility are desired. Two stage
crushing is ideal for multifunctional systems that may be
called upon to crush reinforced concrete one day and
tough quarry-shot dolomite the next day. Several different
configurations of primary and secondary crushers can be
utilized in a two-stage recycling operation.

Universal Engineering has a broad range of equipment,

the experience and the know-how to design the perfect
portable plant for your individual specifications and
capacity requirements.

CONTINUOUS PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT

Universal Engineering Corp.’s reputation as an innovator in the industry is due in part to our process
of continuous improvement. As product enhancements are developed, Universal engineers make
every effort to allow retrofits wherever possible. This practice ensures that Universal’s equipment
users have the opportunity to upgrade their equipment to take advantage of the latest technology and
cost-saving features.

One example of Universal’s process of continuous product development is the rotor assembly for the
Standard Secondary Impact Crushers. While most of these crushers continue to provide unsurpassed
service and performance, some of the earlier models did not offer features that are now available. The
current rotor assemblies are a “drop-in” replacement for their predecessor and offer major benefits
such as:

• One piece rotor body for increased strength and durability.

• Keyless clamping mechanism to secure the rotor body to the rotor shaft.
• Top loading hammers available with most models for quick change-outs.
• Various configurations including 3-bar and 4-bar rotor designs.
• Rotor weldments for specialized applications with extra-wide discs.

These enhancements may provide you the opportunity to increase

overall production, improve gradation control, and provide
timesaving maintenance procedures. In most cases, an upgrade
will allow continued use of the same hammers and any of the
same components currently in your inventory. Give us a call.
