Bleeding air from the Hydroset system

Background
It has been determined that there is a safety risk when an air-bleed screw is opened too far since it
could come loose from its seating and cause injury.
Investigation
The old design was reviewed in order to establish if a simple solution could be found, without losing
functionality. We found that a simple Minimess® measuring nipple would be best.
Result H22” – H6800
On H22” – H6800 crushers, the air-bleed screw on accumulators will be changed to an air-bleed
nipple. This means that new part numbers have been assigned as given in the table below.
Crusher New Part No Superseded Part No
H22” 919.0216-00 919.0162-00
H2800 919.0217-00 / -90 919.0163-00 / -90
H3800 919.0218-00 919.0164-00
H3800 / H6800 919.0218-90 919.0164-90
H4800 919.0219-00 / -90 919.0165-00 / -90
H6800 919.0220-00 919.0174-00

Regarding S-type cone crushers, see below.

Result H7800 – H8800
In the case of H7800 – H8800 crushers, the air-bleed screw in the pilot-controlled pressure-relief
valve block will be deleted and, instead, the existing measuring nipple will be used for bleeding out
air.
Air-bleeding procedure
The procedure for bleeding air from the Hydroset system is similar to the previous procedure, but
instead of opening the air-bleed screw:
1. Remove the protective cap from the measuring nipple
2. Attach the air-bleed hose, so that the bleeding of air is started.
3. Remove the air-bleed hose, so that the bleeding of air is terminated.
4. Refit the protective cap.
The crusher’s toolbox will be updated with the addition of an air-bleed hose for the Hydroset
system. When the air-bleed hose is connected to the measuring nipple, a built-in non-return valve in
the nipple will be opened so that air can be bled from the system.
We recommend that the free end of the air-bleed hose is positioned in a suitable vessel to catch any
spilled oil.

S-type cone crushers

S-type cone crushers have no accumulator but use the same Hydroset cylinder as the equivalent H-
type cone crusher. This means that the Hydroset cylinder cover of an S-type
cone crusher will be modified in the manner described above (i.e. the lower air-bleed screw will be
superseded by a plug).

The upper air bleed point is mounted in the Hydroset line connection piece. Here there is a bleeder
valve which is opened and closed with a hexagon key.
