3 BEARING ANALYSIS

Parameter of Bearing Assumption

Max. weight of car without driver = 130 kg
Max. weight of car with driver = 180 kg
Mass of car = 1765.8 N
Number of wheels = 4
Worst case radial load
Radial load = result of car mass
Since 4 wheels, static load is evenly distributed between the four wheels.
Therefore, for one wheels
F=441.5 N
Worst case radial load
Mass is not evenly distributed through 4 wheels, but only 2. this condition is when the car
making a sharp turn causing one side to lift off the ground slightly.
For 2 wheels
Fr =882.9 N
Worst case axial load
Axial load = when a car turns

due to centrifugal force reduced when an object moves in a circular path.

estimate that
centrifugal force = axial load in wheels

Max. centrifugal force is when velocity and radius

To find suitable value for velocity and turning radius,
centrifugal force = frictional force

If car tried to turn a tighter corner

than at top speed, it would slip,
therefore assumption of centrifugal
force = friction force not valid

Therefore bore 35mm meet the requirement.
