How to keep a check on population

An economy requires the support of its population to function smoothly. The fact
remains
intact that India is extremely rich in its natural resources, yet incapable of
sustaining its
population. We often ponder over the question, who is responsible for the
imbalance? Is it
the current government? Is it the lack of facility? Or is just ignorance?
The disproportionate distribution of wealth in the country is mostly an outcome of
the
humongous population, hyperbolically termed as the 'Population Explosion'. The
government, at regular intervals, has introduced birth control schemes and
programmes,
such as 'Hum Do Hamare Do'.
Such programs have failed tremendously because of the illiterate and religiously
guided
notions of the people. The only way possible to curb the population is to educate
the Indian
population. The beliefs and desirability of having a male child also increases the
population,
which can be checked by understanding that it is better to facilitate the children in a
manner
The government can work effectively only when the population understands the
fragility
and need of the moment.

Festivals of India
The heterogeneous nature of India is perfectly exemplified in the form of its
festivals. India
is a land of diverse culture and religion. It is the only country that willfully
withstands the
slogan 'Unity in Diversity'. There is a catalogue of festivals that are celebrated
wholeheartedly by the Indian population. Ranging from Diwali, Holi, Ganesh
Chaturthi till
Eid and Christmas, the people of India relish a diverse array of festivals.
The varied festivals, not only reveal the religious diversity but also the cultural
amalgamation, existing in the country. The festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi,
Pongal and
Onam are celebrated in some parts of India and yet they are considered major
festivals of
the country. The best part about the festivals in India is that they are based on a
variety of
factors such as change of season, harvest, movement of the moon and the
uniqueness lies in
their propagation of same virtues, that of tolerance, sacrifice and victory.
The diverse nature of India makes it a melting point of culture and festivity. To
rejoice the

festivals of multiple religions and cultures is a joy to be celebrated.

How to provide proper health care to the common man

With an increase in population, pollution level and lack of nutritious food, health
care facility
has become one of the basic amenities of our lives. Gone are those days when the
health
care services were provided from the ethical and charitable point of view. Today, the
health
care sector forms one of the major market sectors.
The commercialisation of health care has led to the emergence of privately owned
hospitals.
No doubt, these hospitals have better facilities, better technology, better
infrastructure,
better nursing and provide better accessibility. They have improved the quality of
services.
But every coin has two aspects. These hospitals charge so much of fees,
recommend
unnecessary tests and medicines. They have become a profit-making machine. Not
everyone
can afford treated from a private hospital. These hospitals can be a boon for the rich
people
but are a curse for the poor people.
While providing health care services, we must not consider only one strata of the
society.
The incompetence or inability of our Government is one of the causes behind
commercialisation of health care services. In order to ensure proper health care to
the
common people, our government can bond with the private hospitals. They can
implement
strict rules and provide treatment to the poor people at subsidised rates. The
government
can tie with private hospitals in order to improve their structural improvements.
It is said that 'prevention is better than cure'. Awareness can be spread among the
public
regarding the methods of preventing and controlling diseases. People should be
made
aware of the importance of sanitation and hygiene. The government should seek to
supply
safe drinking water to all the areas. It can also carry out free vaccination and
immunisation
programs to counter infectious diseases and injuries.
Health care is a service and not a business. Our government should intervene and
make sure
that this service reaches the common man.

Ragging- an evil
Initially the ragging started in British era, in English colleges and universities.
Slowly it spread and corrupted almost entire Indian educational institutions. The

excuse was to teach the social hierarchy in early career, and to learn other
important values in life. Practice of familiarizing beginners with their seniors has
now turned into a potent tool for ill-treating and punishing poor students if they fail
to obey their seniors. Under the pretext of fun, a poor student is often assaulted,
sometimes even stripped and intimidated by his seniors this torture leaves an
indelible impression on his mind. The chilling incident continues to haunt him
throughout his life, and he unknowingly develops various psychological disorders.
After experiencing the evil of ragging, a student develops a feeling of revenge for
his 'unjustified harassment' and derives pleasure in ragging his juniors on his turn.
So the trend goes on and students continue to suffer. Those who surrender before
their seniors are set free from the torment after going through a series of inhuman
acts, but those who refuse are subjected to barbaric and brutal treatment. The
situation sometimes turns so bad that it compels the ragging victim to commit
suicide.

Save the planet, Earth

This is a cause of complete concern across the globe today. The global warming has
accelerated the rise of temperature on earth which is said to have risen by 40 C.
The sea level is also rising. The glaciers are also melting away. There has been very
less rainfall in the recent years resulting in the scarcity of food around the world.
The death rate due to starvation has increased immensely. We, the human beings
are solely responsible for this calamity. We pollute our planet in many ways.
Deforestation, industrial pollution, toxic wastes, vehicular pollution and lack of
greenery are the chief causes of imbalance in the ecosystem.
The urgent need of the hour is that each one of us takes step to save the planet in
every possible way. We should protect our forests, save fuel, plant trees, take care
of toxic pollutants, conserve water and change our life style.
Awareness programmes must be launched by the students and NGOs to make
people aware of environmental problems. The public should avoid the use of
polythene bags. All of us must strive hard to save our beautiful planet for the future
generations.

High Tech Device- Boon or Bane

The present day high-tech gear is just part of growing up in a digital world.
Nevertheless one cannot deny that all these gadgets have become a part and
parcel of our daily lives. Besides we have become highly dependent on these

devices. This is more so in the case of children. Their lives are completely ruled by
these devices.
These devices have many benefits. They have made our lives easier and more
comfortable. They have made the world jump forward with a leap, and built up a
glittering modern world. They have also opened innumerable avenues for the
growth of knowledge and have given a definite form to the wild imagination of man.
They have indeed revolutionised every sphere of life. But on the other hand the
excessive interest of children in these gadgets, has made parents concerned and
worried. Children spend a great deal of time on these gadgets like video games,
internet, cell phones etc the parents feel that excessive use of these gadgets will
definitely be destructive for the children. This could also cramp their academic and
social development. If children are not checked, they would continue to waste time
on these gadgets.
They will recline into their own high-tech shell. Thereupon it will become very
difficult for parents to bring them out of this world. If these high- tech devices are
used in moderation they can fulfill the purpose for which they have been invented.

Importance of Girls Education

There was a time when people thought that it was not necessary to educate girls.
Now we have begun to realize that girls education is essential. The modern age is
the age of awakening of girls. They are trying to compete with men in all spheres of
life. There are many people who oppose girls education. They say that the proper
sphere of girls is the home. So, they argue that the money spent on girls education
is wasted. This view is wrong, because girls education can bring about a silent
resolution in the society.
There is several advantage of girls education. Grown up educated girls can play an
important role in the development of their country.
They can share the burden of men in the different walk of life. They can serve the
society as teachers, lawyers, doctors and administrators. They can work at banks,
hospitals, government offices and large businesses. They can play an important role
during war.
Education is a boon to girls in this age of economic crisis. Gone are the days of
plenty and prosperity. Now-a-days it is difficult for the people of the middle class to
make both ends meet. After marriage, educated girls can add to the income of their
husbands. If a woman is educated, she can earn a living after the death of her
husband.
Girls education is necessary for making our homes happy places. Our home life
would be brightened if we had well-educated wives and mother. Educated girls can
brighten the future of their country by the good upbringing of their children.
Education gives a woman freedom of thought. It broadens her outlook and makes
her aware of her duties and responsibilities.
Education empower a grown up girl to become economically independent. They will
be able to stand up for their rights. Girls have all the rights to get educated.
Empowerment of girls and women is necessary to fight against the problem of
gender-inequality.
Education of rural girls is equally important. The rural girls are not getting
ample opportunity for education. Education of these girls would have positive
impact on both economy and society.

Many people say that girls should not go in for degrees. They are wrong, because
girls have already proved their worth in all walks of life. There is no reason why girls
should not get the same kind of education as men. But they should not neglect their
duties at the home. So, girls must have knowledge of domestic science and child
psychology.
The progress of a country depends on girls education. So, girls education should be
encouraged.

Short Article on Terrorism

Terrorism means the destructive activities taken recourse to by a group of people to
coerce a government to yield to their demands. Terrorists engage themselves to
violent activities. They use deadly arms and ammunition.
Terrorism is mostly used as a lever to achieve a political aim. It is the biggest
menace faced by the inter-national community today.
There was a terrorist attack on the Parliament of India on 13th December, 2001. Our
security forces fought bravely and killed all the terrorists. Since then, there were
several terrorist bomb attacks at Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi, Pune and other major
towns of India. There was another series of bomb attacks at Pune on 1st August,
2012. All this clearly points out the immense strength of hard core terrorist groups
and their powerful networks.
Terrorism made its ugly appearance in the West Asian political dispute between
Palestine and Israel. The massacre of sportsmen in the Munich Olympic village
shook the whole world. Incidents of indiscriminate killing took place in Ireland,
Afghanistan, Burma. In the Indian subcontinent, terrorism in the worst form was
witnessed in Sri Lanka causing loss of innumerable lives and properties.
In India evil forces with abetment from outside indulge in acts of violent terrorism in
Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Assam. The aim is to create a chaos in the country
with ulterior political motives. Our late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajib
Gandhi and army general Baidya fell a prey to the extreme acts of
terrorism. Hijacking of planes, blowing up of railways and bridges and bus full of
passengers all are instances of terrorist activities that killed hundreds of innocent
lives. The memories of the explosion of the Air India aircraft Kanishka in the mid
air still haunt us. The Indian Airlines Flight 814 was hijacked on 24th December,
1999 while flying from Kathmandu. One passenger was killed. Other passengers
were released after long negotiation.
Kidnapping, hijacking of planes, cross-border terrorism, cyber-terrorism are growing
day-by-day. The terrorists use terror as a weapon to fulfill their demands. The effect
of terrorism in all cases is killing of innocent people or a large scale massacre of
property.
Such unwanted killings and destruction cause irreparable damage to the country.
Terrorism should be dealt with ruthlessly with undaunted courage and
determination. A group of senseless people cannot be allowed hold the country to
ransom. Adherence to strictness only will bring back a stable political and economic
environment.

Time Management for College Students

When developing time management techniques in college, it's important that
students first understand their goals and then set out to develop and follow a

routine schedule. Without these factors, it may be hard for students to get
motivated to employ their time management strategies. Students may download or
purchase a scheduler; a weekly, monthly and yearly planner; and worksheets
pertaining to the distribution and organization of one's tasks. This will help them
avoid waiting until the last minute and having to cram.
Many universities recommend that students take the time to plan each school day.
Making a daily list of tasks to accomplish can help students to concentrate on tasks
one at a time. Individuals should be specific when setting goals. For example, a
student might want to set the goal of reviewing his or her lecture notes each day
after classes. It can also be helpful to schedule fixed blocks of time to study with
clear start and stop times, as well as specified break periods. Students can start
with more difficult subjects first and also work on assignments or tests that are due
first.
Students should devise ways to build on their success, keeping their long-term goals
in mind when pursuing better time management. Mental awareness can help with
this. Individuals should try to be mindful of when they're falling into unproductive
patterns and should identify specific triggers or distractions that lead to
procrastination. Meditation and exercise might also help some people clear their
heads and help them build confidence and focus when studying.
Students may look for advice from teachers, coaches, mentors or peers on better
time management strategies. Individuals can also work with other classmates who
are on top of their assignments and willing to provide reminders or encouragement.
Time management is key to academic success and organizing and planning one's
day and tasks using mental exercises, seeking help and avoiding time wasters are
some helpful time management strategies for college students.
