Twisting Tunnels
I set out on this journey long ago,
From the moment when I first saw and first cried.
That was the beginning of the ever twisting tunnel,
The tunnel which I would come to know as life.
There have been good twists,
Like my first step or my first loose tooth.
There have been bad twists,
Like the first time I scraped my knees.
The further through the tunnel I get,
The worse things get,
The bad twists after bad twist after bas twist,
Seeming to go on forever,
From my first diagnosis of an eating disorder,
To an accidental overdose and a seizure
Which would change my life.
At the same time,
The further through the tunnel I get,
The better things get,
The good twists after bad twists,
And the good twists before bad twists.
From my first good poem,
To my complete recovery from an eating disorder.
The tunnel is dark,
But the further I get,
The more I can see and overcome.
