The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of normal probability
distribution.
The Learner is able to accurately formulate and solve real life problems in different
disciplines.
The learner computes probabilities and percentiles using the z table.
At the end of the lesson, the student would be able to:
Find areas between paired z scores
Find probabilities for the standard normal random variable z;
Express areas under the normal curve using probability notation.
120 minutes
Powerpoint, marker
Statistics and Probability, pages 74 88.

LESSON OUTLINE:
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drills:
2. Review:
3. Motivation:

Bellwork/Activity 1
Recall their previous topic in statistics.
How are you going to identify the different possibilities of an event?

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation:

A student will report the topic and will give a short discussion. Then, they will have an activity
about it.
2. Comparison/Contrast: Explain how you would determine the probability of belonging to the top 5% of a class.
2. Generalization: What is a probability?
C. Application:
Let them answer exercise on page 81 of the worktext.
D. Evaluation:

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drills:
Bellwork/Activity 1:Determine whether the statement is true or false by
checking the appropriate box.
2. Review:
Recall their previous topics in statistics.
3. Motivation: How are you going to identify the different possibilities
of an event?
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation:
A student will report the topic and will give a short discussion.
Then, they will have an activity about it.
Clarify some information if the students did not understand the
presentation of the reporter.
Challenge them to be as fast as they can in doing the activity.
2. Comparison/Contrast:
Explain how you would determine the probability of belonging to the
top 5% of a class.
2. Generalization:
What is a z score? What are the steps in evaluating the z
values?
C. Application:
Let them answer Exercise on page 65 of the worktext.
D. Evaluation:
Reflective Assessment:
If you were rate 1 to 10 of your understanding the lesson, how
do you rate yourself?
