Q1. Find the power dissipated when:


a) a current of 5 mA flows through a resistance of 20 k;
b) a voltage of 400 V is applied across a 120 k resistor;
c) a voltage applied to a resistor is 10 kV and the current flow is 4 mA.

Q2. An electric heater takes 8 A from a 240 V supply. Find the annual cost if the heater is
used an average of 25 hours per week for 48 weeks. Assume that 1 kWh of energy costs
5 cents.

Q3. For the circuit shown in Figure 1.1 use KVL to determine current through 3 and 5 .
