    I teach science in high school and recently tried teaching a lesson using content and language integrated learning (CLIL). The biggest challenge was that some students struggled with the academic language needed to understand the science content being taught in English. In the future, I plan to spend more time preparing students for CLIL lessons by building their English vocabulary knowledge before switching to English instruction.
