Award ceremony at The Hobart Book Shop, 25 February 2016

1st Prize

$250.00 cash plus a signed Geoff Goodfellow book

2nd Prize

A selection of ten Wakefield Press poetry titles

3rd Prize

A selection of five Wakefield Press poetry titles

PLUS the school of the winning entrant will receive ten Wakefield Press Poetry titles.

Who can enter?
Year 9 and 10 students from Tasmanian schools in 2015

How much does it cost?


Entry is free

How many poems may be submitted by an entrant?


A maximum of three poems per student

What form must the poem take?


The poem must be free verse
Be a maximum length of 75 lines
Reflect social justice issue/s
Typed in 12 point font and double spaced
Be the original work of the entrant

How do I submit an entry?


To allow for blind judging, the following should be included on the back of each poem submitted (if posted) and on
a cover sheet (if emailed):
Students name
Home address & phone number
Students email address
School attended and contact details of English teacher

When are entries due?


Entries close Friday 4 December 2015

Where should entries be submitted?


Entries should be forwarded to:

How will the judging take place and when will winners be announced?
Shortlisted entrants will be advised by Thursday 11 February 2016
Winners announced by Geoff Goodfellow Thursday 25 February 2016 at The Hobart Book Shop, 22 Salamanca
Square at 5.30 pm for 6.00 pm
Poets are invited and encouraged to read their winning entries at this event
Should any writer be unable to attend, Geoff Goodfellow will read their entry
The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
