Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

Prior to continuing a Bachelors degree in Education or taking any education

courses at UNLV, NSC, or UNR, I must pass the Praxis Core Exam. This exam contains

a Math, Reading, and Writing section. The passing score for the Praxis Core in Nevada

for Math is 150. The passing score for Reading is 156. The passing score for Writing is

162.

Exam Preparation

Before I took the practice Praxis Core Exam, I became familiar with what the

official Praxis Core Exam is and what it contains, the test requirements, and the steps that

need to be taken before and on the day of the test. I learned about the exam by reading

the information available on various Praxis Core websites. I prepared for the exam by

studying and doing some practice problems in the Math, Reading, and Writing packets

that are available on the ETS Praxis Core website. I tested myself and reviewed the

correct answers to the questions that I got wrong.

Exam Results

In Math, I scored in the 58% range, which means that improvement is needed

before I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Reading, I scored in the 48% range,

which means that improvement is needed. In Writing, I scored in the 75% range, which

means that I am on the borderline of passing this section on the official exam.
Future Exam Preparation

In order to pass the official Praxis Core Exam, I will need to put a lot more time

into studying. I need improvement in all three sections of the exam, but my main focus

will be on the Math and Reading sections. I will use the resources that are available on

Praxis Core websites, such as videos and practice test problems, to learn the information

that I am unfamiliar with. Also, I will go to the Math Resource Center at CSN and get

help from a math tutor.
