Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

In order for us to be able to transfer to UNR, UNLV or any university to get our

Bachelor’s Degree, we need to pass the Praxis Exam. The Praxis Exam measures our

skills in Mathematics, Reading and Writing.

Exam Preparation

In order to prepare for the test, I took the ETS practice test. In addition to that I

read about the test online to know what to expect. Needless to say that the test was harder

than the practice test, which is kind of disappointing. I also practiced Math on the Khan

Academy website.

Exam Results

In Reading I scored a 36%, which means that I need significant improvement

before I can take the Praxis Core Exam. In Writing I scored 48%, which also need

significant improvement before I can take the Praxis Core Exam. To my surprise, I scored

the highest in Math, which I always thought of as my weakest subject, but I scored a

50%. I know that I need significant improvement in Math as well before I can take the

Praxis Core Exam, but I am in total shock that I scored higher in Math than in Reading or

Writing.

Future Exam Preparation

Now that I know what to expect, I will pay more attention to the reading and I

will read the questions and answers more carefully. I will use the free Praxis Prep

websites and I will probably seek help of a tutor in Math. I will keep using the Khan

Academy website to improve my Math skills. I am not planning in taking the C-BEST

exam instead of Praxis Core Exam.
