He was a solitary person and he didnt like people, but he was an interesting
man.

attracted his attention. He sat and looked at it for several minutes.

He is pale and he walks with his head down all the time. He carries a piece of
paper with him and on it there are figures.

words surprise him?
Legrand said that stupid bug ang Legrand was surprised because those were
the ony words he said.
4.Why did Legrand want the narrator to join the expedition and why did the
narrator at first refuse?
That after the expedition he will return home and follow his advice.

Legrand was upset because Jupiter told him that the branch was dead.

parchment?
He found the parchment on the beach and there had been a boat and the
skull was the sign of pirates.
5.How did Legrand explain the appearance of the skull on the parchment?
Because the skull was the sign of the pirates and that the parchment lasts for
a long time.
6.Why was Legrand convinced that Capain Kidds treasure has not yet been
found?
Because he heard stories about the buried treasure and if it had been found
the stories would have stopped.
Because the figures were a code. He had to figure out the language of the
code and then decide how many times certain letters were used in a
language.

glass. What were they?
The devils seat which was a rock and the good glass was a telescope.

The skeletons belonged to the people who helped Capitan Kidd with the
treasure. He killed them so they wouldnt take the treasure.

PART 1

Simmpson.
He didnt want to wear spectacles because they ruin ones looks and they
would make him look older and more serious.
3.Give the main details of where and how Simpson fell in love.
He went to the theatre with a friend and he saw the most beautiful woman in
the world. He felt in love at first sight.
4.What information did Talbot give Simpson about the wpman and what did
Simpson the ask Talbot to do?
Tolbot told Simpson that she was the celebrated widow Madame Lalande.
Simpson told Tolbot that he wanted to meet her.
5.What unsual thing did Madame Lalande do and what effect did this have on
Simpson?
She put on her opera glasses and looked at Simpson for atleast five minutes.
He felt admiration and excitement.

The servant told Simpson that Talbot had left after breakfast and he wouldnt

have patience.

information that Simpson wanted.

He learned that Eugenie was 82 years old and she was his great

these mistakes.
Because Simpson had a bad vision and didnt wear glasses and his griends
never told him that Madame laldane was really an 82 old woman. The only
one that told him the truth was Madame because she gave him glasses to
see.
12.Why did everything finish well for Simpson at the end of the story?
Because Simpson married Stephanie Lalande and Eugenie will leave him all
her money when she dies.
