ROLE OF COUNTY EXECUTIVE I would appreciate Mr. Leggett giving a short speech to

environment and the importance of preserving it.

PURPOSE OF EVENT I am the sponsor of our School Energy and Recycling Team
(BACKGROUND) (SERT) here at Great Seneca Creek ES. Our Green Team
consists of 25 fourth graders who are passionate about bring
environmental awareness to our school community. We want
to celebrate the uniqueness of our planet and take action by
cleaning up around the school grounds including Lake Seneca
which runs directly behind our school. We are currently
working hard to showcase our efforts and obtain our Green
School certification from Maryland Association of
Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE). We have
been documenting and my husband, Sean Clark, has been
helping me put together a website that documents how our
efforts have increased awareness and participation regarding
recycling throughout school, energy conservation, water
conservation, respect for nature, reducing toxins in the air by
providing plants to various classrooms, keeping the
environment clean, promoting no mow zones to increase
oxygen and love and respect towards all creatures that inhabit
our earth.
NUMBER OF PEOPLE ATTENDING It is difficult to predict the number of attendees but it will be
open to the school staff, students, and community. We will be
advertising our event in our schools e-newsletter and
classroom e-newsletters. We are also hosting a table at our
upcoming Literacy event on February 23, 2017 to recruit
community participation.
ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS We greatly appreciate your consideration and hope you are
able to attend to help bring increased awareness to our Great
Seneca Creek community.
