FADE IN:
SCENE 1 V.O. AND FLASHBACK
Int School Classroom
The ambient sounds of a classroom slowly fade in.
JASON (V.O)
Ive always looked forward to Mondays. The
start of a new business week, presenting
my employees with the labors of my
weekend. I dont take breaks when theres
money to be made.
When I was younger, Mondays were good for
quite another reason.
I didnt have many friends, and in a town
as small as Upper Buffington Waterhill,
there werent many opportunities to make
new ones.
Louise was never allowed out on weekends,
so we always had a lot of things to tell
each other come Monday morning.
Sound: Background classroom chatter
YOUNG LOUISE
She had this massive go at me! No
daughter of minell be leaving Waterhill,
I dont care where you think youre off
to
YOUNG JASON
Christ, what does she take you for! If I
had to stay here for even a day after we
finish school, Id scream. Im out of
here. Soon as exams are over.
YOUNG LOUISE
(Parenthetical information)
She wants me to stay. I wunna get the most
dangerous job going, just to spite her.

2
YOUNG JASON
Or you could just leave? How much danger
is there in Waterhill theres nowhere
more boring on the planet. They had to
close the farm cause not even the animals
could bear it.
[fade to:]
SCENE 2 AT LOUISES DOOR, AND INSIDE HER HOUSE
Sound: Repeated, annoying knocking on a door
JASON
(under his breath, very quiet)
Cmon, oh come on, just be in, be in, open
the door
Sound: Faster this time, more annoying knocking on
a door
JASON
(Impatient)
Louise!
Sound: Faster this time, more annoying knocking on
a door
JASON
(Very impatient)
Louise!
Sound: The door opens.
LOUISE
(Badly faking surprise and
happiness)
Jason!
(beat)
Why are you why are you here, what made
you - ?

3
JASON
I wondered how you were doing!
Sound: Jason steps into the house, we hear his
shoes on the carpet
LOUISE
Oh, okay, inviting yourself in too,
alright then. Whatre you you didnt
even call, and you just -
JASON
(Mocking)
See if youd become a spy like you said.
LOUISE
And mocking me.
JASON
Tucked away in this horrible little
village.
LOUISE
Aand where I live, fantastic.
JASON
How is your mum doing, anyway?
LOUISE
What?
JASON
Youre mum, I assume she cant have fallen
apart just yet - seeing that youre still
here.
LOUISE
Because there could be no other reason?
JASON
This house is alright, I guess - must just

4
be nice to have a little independence from
her.
LOUISE
Im perfectly -
JASON
What do you do?
LOUISE
What possessed you to just turn up
unannounced?
JASON
Cant be anything good I mean, what is
there here?
LOUISE
(No longer keeping a friendly
tone)
Leave. You can just leave now.
JASON
Like just manual labor, maybe waitressing,
a tiny bit of secretarial work, maybe?
Sound: Louise walks quickly to the door, lighter
footsteps, Jason follows with slower, heavier footsteps
JASON
Is the pay at least half decent?
Sound: Front door opens
Sound: Atmospheric outdoors sounds wind,
distant road, birds etc.
LOUISE
Out you come.
JASON

5
(growing in volume from
silent, as he exits the
building)
Cmon, were friends arent we, you can
tell me if you hate your job
LOUISE
(grunts in frustration)
Sound: She shuts the door hard.
JASON
Alright then, I can take a hint.
What do you do on the weekend, then?
Cant be many things for a grown woman to
do on her nights off.
Cant be many people for a grown woman to
do on her nights off.
LOUISE
(grunts in frustration)
[FADE OUT]
SCENE 3 OUTSIDE AND THEN INSIDE THE PUB
Sound: Atmospheric sound, cars occasionally pass
by on a nearby road
LOUISE
What about you then?
JASON
(breathless, struggling to
keep up)
What?
LOUISE
If youre so fascinated with me that
youre following me to the pub, then I can
at least throw some questions back at you.

6
What about you what do you do for a
living?
JASON
Her-cu-le-an Industries
LOUISE
You work for that soulless trampler of
human rights?
JASON
Im the new CEO of that multimillion pound
industry leader.
LOUISE
(huffs)
Right
Sound: The atmospheric sound of cars passing fades
away
Sound: The atmospheric sound of a quiet but
bustling pub fades up from nothing
Sound: The front door creaks as they step through
PUB OWNER
Louise! How are you love
LOUISE
Just fine, thank you. A pint of Guinness,
please.
Sound: A pint glass being filled at the tap
PUB OWNER
And your friend?
LOUISE
He doesnt want anything
Sound: The pint glass being placed down on the bar

7
PUB OWNER
Aye then, just give us a shout if you want
anything else. And say hello to your
mother for me.
Sound: She picks up her pint glass and drinks from
it
JASON
Biggest company in the UK, at the moment.
One of the fastest growing in the world.
LOUISE
You must be very proud
Sound: The atmospheric pub sounds slowly - very
slowly - fade away during this conversation.
JASON
(Amused)
Of myself, yeah. Only entered the company
five years ago, already running it.
LOUISE
Mhm
(beat)
Sound: All of the atmospheric sound has totally
faded.
JASON
This place is even deader than I remember.
(beat)
JASON (CONTD)
Bloody hell whats wrong them
everybodys stopped moving.
Theres a bloody dart hung from the
ceiling.
What is this? What kind of joke is this?
Why?

8
Sound: Louise downs the rest of her Guinness,
putting the glass down heavily.
LOUISE
Cmon, you can drop the pretense now.
Whos paying you for this? A newspaper?
The BBC?
(beat)
A far right 4 chan group?
JASON
Louise, youre scaring me. What do you
mean whats this. Why is there nothing
outside of the windows.
LOUISE
Youre not the first. I can understand
them neglecting to tell you that. But
dont pretend not to know why youre here.
Why else would anybody come and pester me
so incessantly.
JASON
Theyre not even breathing how are these
people staying so still?
LOUISE
Little trick of ours. SO there are no
witnesses.
JASON
Youve killed them?
LOUISE
No, just paused. They wont know anything
happened, once Ive dealt with you.
JASON
Dealt. With me?

9
LOUISE
Its a shame they got to you. I really did
my best to sever connections. To protect
you from this. You might not realise this,
but anybody looking for information on The
Agency is highly dangerous. Youve got to
be very, very, powerful, or very, very
ignorant, if you think you stand any form
of chance.
JASON
You work for the agency?
LOUISE
(laughing)
Dont act all supprised.
JASON
Dont act all supprised?
Sound: Louise pulls a gun out.
LOUISE
Oh, come on, this just makes it harder for
me.
At least pretend you had malevolent
intentions. I dont want to kill my friend
because he was misled by strangers
offering him money.
JASON
Money? What need do I have for more money?
LOUISE
Good point. That was a good point to add.
Give you that backstory, so I wont think
youve been payed off. But come on, why
would believe that you would succeed?
JASON
What, I Ive made a success of myself,
why is that a reason to kill me?

10
LOUISE
For what it might be worth, which isnt
much, I am sorry that I have to do this. I
did my best to protect you from this. But
The Agency do a lot more in Waterhill than
youd expect. Only somebody close to me
what know, though. Id torture out of you
how they knew I was part of it. But I
doubt you know.
JASON
Louise
Sound: The gun fires.
Sound: The title music fades in
JASON (V.O)
Of course, she didnt kill me. How could
she?
Sound: A montage of sound effects and snippets of
dialogue. Explosions, laughing, aliens. A montage of Louis
and Jasons future adventures together as partners working
for The Agency
JASON (V.O. CONT)
Seems funny now, that I thought my job
would be so much better than hers. I
thought shed work in a bank or something.
