WHAT ARE NON VALUE ADDED ACTIVITES?

You must be remembering, how we concluded a week back, I said eliminate MOST of the non-value added
activities to increase overall profitability. You must have wondered why not all.

TYPE OF NON VALUE ADDED ACTIVITIES

Avoidable NVAs Can be eliminated.
Un-avoidable NVAs Can not be eliminated but can be reduced.

AVOIDABLE NVAs
Some of the examples of these are walking during performing the job, waiting for the next job to come,
watching something else (other than your job), sharing the tools between the machines, searching
something, excessive bending while performing the job etc.

UNAVOIDABLE NVAs
Some of the examples of ESSENTIAL NVAs are loading the job, taking off cuts, tool changing, job set
ups, various inspections etc.
Some of the examples of NON-ESSENTIAL NVAs are excessive gap between the too and product, de-
burring operation, fettling operation, filing operation etc.

Hence we should

}

& hence

MOST.
