The 4th Composition Contest for Acoustic Instrument and

electroacoustic device Sampo
Musinfo is pleased to announce the fourth edition of the International composition contest for
acoustic instrument and electroacoustic device Sampo. With this initiative Musinfo proposes to
open a new space intended to uphold the work of contemporary composers and sound artists
in the field of live-electronic music.

Composers are invited to write a short study of 2 to 4 minutes maximum. The electroacoustic
device is represented by the software P-Soft supplied by Musinfo. The composers whose
studies are chosen will receive a commission from the Opus Centrum ensemble who
collaborates with Musinfo. They will be invited to write a full-length composition that will be
played and recorded next year.

The electroacoustic device Sampo will be supplied to composers by Musinfo for the period of
composition. This year the studies may be written for the following instruments: violin, flute, sax
or clarinet.

Participation requirements:

1. The contest is open from 1st March until 30 March 2017.

2. The call is open to composers of any age.
3. There are no fees for inscription.
4. The contest is open to any short study (from 2 to 4 min long) written for P-Soft and an
acoustic solo instrument (violin, flute, sax or clarinet). No other software or audio files
may be used.
5. The software needed to participate in the contest is available for download at the following

6. Examples of scores for the device and help concerning the composing process are
available at the address:

7. The composers should send
the software bank file
the instrument score in PDF format
the participant information (name & address)

8. The files must be marked with the title of the work and the name of the author.
9. The works will be presented to the jury anonymously.
10. If the composer wishes to send a recording of his work, he should do it by using WeTransfer:

11. The international jury will nominate the winners of the contest during the Art & Science Days 2017 in Bourges.
12. The jury can decide not to nominate any winners.

Prize:

1. The winners will receive a commission to write a new composition.

2. The winners will receive the electroacoustic device, Sampo, conceived by Musinfo at their home for a
period of 2 to 3 months to write their new composition.
3. The new composition will be created during the Art & Science Days 2018 by the Opus Centrum ensemble.

Musinfo est heureux d'annoncer la tenue de la quatrime dition du Concours International
de Composition pour instrument acoustique et dispositif lectronique Sampo. Avec cette
initiative Musinfo ouvre un nouvel espace destin soutenir le travail des compositeurs et
artistes sonores contemporains dans le cadre de live-electronic .

Il sagit dcrire une courte tude - entre 2 et 4 minutes maximum. Le dispositif lectronique
est reprsent par le logiciel P-Soft fourni par Musinfo. Les compositeurs dont les tudes
seront choisies recevront une commande pour lensemble Opus Centrum, qui collabore avec
Musinfo, afin dcrire une pice entire qui sera joue et enregistre lanne prochaine.

Le dispositif lectronique Sampo sera fourni aux compositeurs par Musinfo pour la priode
dcriture de leur pice. Cette anne les tudes peuvent tre crites pour les instruments
suivants : violon, flte, saxophone ou clarinette.

Rgles de participation :

1. Le concours est ouvert du 1er au 30 mars 2017.

2. Lappel est ouvert aux compositeurs de tout ge.
3. Linscription est gratuite.
4. Le concours est ouvert pour une courte tude dune dure de 2 4 minutes, crite
pour P-Soft et un instrument acoustique seul (violon, flte, saxophone ou
clarinette). Aucun autre logiciel ni fichier audio ne peuvent tre utiliss.
5. Le logiciel ncessaire pour la participation au concours est accessible au tlchargement

7. Les compositeurs sont invits envoyer
le fichier bank de leur configuration
la partition pour linstrument au format PDF
les informations sur le participant (nom et adresse)

8. Les fichiers doivent comporter le titre de luvre et le nom de lauteur.
9. Les partitions seront rendues anonymes pour lvaluation par le jury international.
10. Si le compositeur souhaite envoyer un enregistrement, il doit le faire par WeTransfer :

11. Le jury international nommera les laurats du concours pendant les Journes Art & Science 2017 Bourges.
12. Le jury peut dcider de ne pas nommer de laurat.

Prix :

1. Les laurats recevront une commande pour composer une nouvelle pice.
2. Les laurats recevront chez eux, pour une dure de 2 3 mois, le dispositif lectronique fabriqu par
Musinfo pour composer une nouvelle pice.
3. La nouvelle pice sera cre pendant les Journes Art & Science 2018 par lensemble Opus Centrum.
