like my parents sometimes do. It's so much more relaxing to seek advice from my close friends. Second, my friends and I belong to the same age group. We face the same kinda
problems. Most of our issues are school relate. Since we are taking the same courses, advice I get from my friends are usually more helpful.
The following suggestions can be useful for someone who has stage fright. First, practice makes perfect. Don't waste any chance to speak in public. He or she can start with an
environment thats not so intimidating, try giving a little talk at a family dinner first. When it's time, move on to giving a presentation in class. Sooner or later, this person will be able to
speaking in front of strangers. Second, be prepared for the speech. This means he or she should take the time write a draft, get the slides in order and rehears at the speech location if
possible.
I like taking lots of pictures on my trips. First, I enjoy taking photos. Its even more fun taking photos at a place that Im new to. When Im visiting a new city, I get to see colors, shapes
and lines that are so different than what Im familiar with, they inspire me to take better pictures. Second, our memory is very limited and unreliable. We will forget about the things we
do and the people we meet in a week or so if we dont have some kind of record. And these record can be shared with our friends and families too, its better to show them the highlights
of our trip rather than just speak about them in words.
Id like to compare my favorite singers with my parents favorite singers. I like to listen to music that is fast and loud. Preferably Rock or R&B. They got more "beat" in them. When Im
tired from doing too much school assignment, I need something energetic to recharge. My parents dont like them though. They think my taste is too rough for them. They like listening
to Classical music and Traditional Chinese music. I guess theyre ok, but a little boring to my taste. I tried to enjoy them once or twice, but I cant even keep myself awake after a few
songs.
I like to eat in fast food joints for the following reasons. First, it's time saving to eat at a fast food restaurant. I can get whatever I want in minutes. There's no need to sit down, wait for
the waiters to come to my table and take my orders. Regular restaurants are usually packed, it takes about half an hour to wait for a table to open up during dinner rush. Second, fast
foods are cheaper. For around ten dollars, I can get a full meal with a drink at places like the McDonalds. At a regular restaurant, the bill can add up to forty dollars per person, and then
I have to pay tips on top of that.
The advantages of these measures are very obvious. The more tourists attracted, the more tickets sold, the more revenues made. Governments can use this money to repair and maintain
these tourism sites. Having more people visit these sites is also good for a country's public image. There are some shortcomings as well, one being a huge amount of people at these sites
will speed up wears and tears. Some of the famous tourism sites in China suffer from a heavy load of visitors. It's a shame that some people carve their names in trees and buildings.
These marks are ugly and they last forever.
I think it's better to study for nine or ten months a year for the following reasons. First, students can work during school breaks. They can save quite a bit of money if they take the right
jobs. University education is becoming increasingly expensive. The money saved can cover a pretty big part of the school expense. Second, students can gain lots of experiences from
these temp positions. They can learn things outside of the campus setting, such as how to interact with co- workers, deal with real world problems and meet deadlines that are sometimes
unrealistic.
I bought a camera for my dad last month. I bought it for him because he recently retired and plans to travel the world. I chose this particular model because it's light and compact. It fits
easily in his pocket so he doesn't have to carry too much weight. The image quality is very good as well. Hw went to South Africa with this camera last week and took some amazing
pictures of wild animals. The best thing about this camera is that it has build-in wifi. It connects to his cellphone so he could keep sending pictures to us during the entire trip.
I think its easier to be a teacher. First, student's life is hard and stressful. Being a student myself, I have endless homework and tests to deal with. I need to spend at least four hours
finishing my assignments every night. I rarely get to go to sleep before midnight. On the other hand, teachers can go home and relax after a day's work. Second, students are studying
new subjects all the time while a teacher is repeating the same material over and over again. Take my Math teacher Mr. Tony for example. Hes been teaching the same thing for over
twenty years, hes so familiar with the materials that he can teach a class with his eyes closed.

the dishes, then his or her parents can take a break and relax for a bit. Second, children benefit from doing these tasks. They spend hours and hours sitting at their desks studying and
doing homework assignment. Taking care of some houseworks give them a chance to move around and take their mind off things. Some housework like gardening is actually quite fun
to do.
I think making a plan ahead of time and sticking to it is the way to go. For example, I did a twenty-page paper for my history class last semester. I was pretty concerned about not being
able to handle it so I sat down and made a plan before starting the project. The plan was to start the whole thing by going to the library so that I have all the right books and material for
my research, and then try to finish the first draft within two weeks. After that I'd show it to my professor for feedbacks and suggestions on how to improve it. I followed this plan and
every thing worked out pretty well at the end.
I prefer to spend my vocation in cities for the following reasons. First, there're so much more to do in a city comparing to being in the countryside. In a city, Ill never run out of fun
activities to do. For example, I can visit museums and watch movies or shop. The things we get to do in the countryside are pretty limited. Second, I don't drive, so its easier for me to
get around in a city because there are buses and subways lines, even taxi services. In a city like Beijing, it's very convenient to ride the subway which makes it possible for me to visit
three to four places in a day.
I think being a teenager is the hardest for the following reasons. First, it's hard being a high school student. What we learn in high school is hard! We are studying so many different
subjects all at the same time. There are endless assignments and tests to worry about. If I don't get them right, I can't face my teachers and parents. Second, there's too much peer
pressure being a teenager. People compare with each other about the clothes we wear, the shoes we put on and the grades we get. Teenagers have to try so hard to fit in to avoid being
alienated at school.

part-time job while I'm still a student so after I graduate, I'll be able to have a resume that can impress my future employers.
The thing I didn't want to do but did anyway was learning how to swim. I didnt want to do it because I was so afraid of the idea of drowning. I thought thats probably the worst way to
die. I tried to learn how to do it a few times without success, so I gave up trying. My friend Tony convinced me to give it another try. He was actually very patient with me and he
showed me how to do it and broke down all the moves for me. He's different than my other instructors because he kept encouraging me rather than telling me what I'm doing wrong. I
actually got it at the end and thought it was pretty fun.
I agree with the statement that the wealthy should do more to help the poor. First, they have more resources and social connections to set up projects and foundations. Take Bill Gates for

I agree with the statement that protecting the environment is as important as economical development. First, lots of the damages done to our environment are irreversible. It takes
decades to reduce air and water pollution, and in some cases the damage can not be undone. Take oil spillages as an example, the impact they have on marine life is impossible to repair.
Second, no matter how advanced our social structure and technology get, we can't enjoy our life if the environment is ruined. What's the point of having more money when we have to

can easily delete a paragraph or bring it back, move thing around, auto-check my grammar as I write. No matter what I do, after I format it at the end, I will have a neat paper that's easy
to read. Second, I rely on my computer to keep in touch with my families. I don't study in my hometown. I Skype with my mom and dad quite often.
I prefer to use email and text to communicate with people for the following reasons. First, I can show down, collect my thoughts, make myself clear about what I want to say when I sit
down and write an email. I'm a shy person, I generally don't like to speak with people face to face unless its absolutely necessary. Second, face to face conversations leave no record for
us to go back to. When we send emails back and forth, we sort of create a trail. When something's missing or unclear, we can double check our email messages to clear things up.
The advantage of this plan is ebooks are easy to carry. Thousands of books can be loaded onto one device. These devices are small and light to carry around. Being able to search an
entire book is awesome. This allows us to find a keyword within seconds. The other side of the coin is that ebooks require a reading device which can be expensive. Students have to buy
new ones when its broken. A new model would come out every year with new features to encourage people to upgrade. The cost of these devices can be so much higher than owning
paper books.
I think primary school students are harder to teach for the following reasons. First, they can get pretty naughty sometimes. My friend Tony used to teach in a primary school, he told me
that kids in his class interrupt him all the time. Sometimes they even walk around the classroom when theyre supposed to be sitting down. Theyre cute, but they do get really noisy

I like studying late at night for the following reasons. First, it's quiet during late at night. I concentrate better when the noise has died down in the house. It's true wether I'm in my dorm
or at home. Specially after 11, everyone's finished their errands in the house, my mom and dad would be reading or getting ready for bed. Second, some people prefer to get up early in
the morning, not me. I usually sleep in if I don't have anything special planned. Therefore there's no reason to go to bed early. The best part is, I don't get many messages or emails or
calls after 11. I can fully concentrate on my work with zero distraction.
The advantage of such plan would be obvious. Lower calorie foods like fruits, yogurt and salad are healthier than many of the hot items most schools offer now. Health conscious

always taste good if you know what I mean. They are bland, boring flavorless. There's nothing better than biting into a juicy burger when we are hungry. They are great for a quick fix

I think students should only take courses that are related directly to their future career. First, the more time we spend on doing something, the better we will be at it. This will make us
experts in our field, thus giving us a better shot at getting a good job after we graduate. Second, we can concentrate all our time and energy in one area. It actually save us a lot of time.
All the course we take will be related to one another, they might even overlap. This means we might be able to make small changes to one paper and turn it into another class.
I will do the following to help this friend of mine. First, I will buy him a big and loud alarm clock. People dont like to get up in the morning, its in our nature. There are countless alarm

and not get hit by any giant food, such as the huge pancakes that might crush you. It's fun to read and even more fun to think about.
I agree with the statement that process is more important than result for the following reasons. First, I majored in Art in university, I find it much more enjoyable and satisfying to create
something from scratch and solve problems along the way. The process is what counts. Take sculpture for example. Trying to carve a shape out of a single piece of wood takes hours

I prefer to seek help from my fellow students when I have difficulties finishing my assignments. First, most professors are busy. It's hard to find them and sit down with them to have one

These are the few things I like about them. First, I think they are pretty good looking. My school uniform is blue with white strips. It makes you stand out from a crowed. And unlike the
baggy uniforms from other schools in the area, our uniform fits really well, because the material it's made of is very stretchy. Last but not least, it's very comfortable. The uniform is
made of 100% cotton, so it's nice and soft. On top of that, it breathes really well so I can wear it during exercise.
I think it's extremely important for students to have a part-time job for the following reasons. First, students can get real world experience from working off campus. Take myself for
example, I waited tables part-time while I was in university. I learned a lot about how to deal with different kinds of people on that job. Also, working off campus means that students
can get in touch with people that aren't students. Students have a chance to establish a professional network before leaving school. For example, some schools require students to intern
at a local business as part of the graduate requirements. And I know people who have secured permanent positions at these firms even before they graduated.
I would love to participate in planting a campus garden for the following reasons. First, a garden can make our campus a more beautiful place to live in. Right now, there's nothing but
buildings, sidewalks and parking spaces on campus. The whole place is pretty boring, a garden can certainly change that. Second, I like plants and nature in general. I think it's fun to get
dirty, plant something with my own hands. I spend way too much time in the library and lab. Doing gardening gives me a chance to take a break from my life and get some fresh air.
I would like to live with a local family when I study abroad for the following reasons. First, living with a local family means I'll be able to expose myself to new experiences and foreign

The education quality in China has improved a lot in recent years. I'd like to talk about computerization first. Distance education has made it possible for people to access educational
resources more easily. People can learn, even earn advance degrees from the comfort of their home. This is especially important for people who have disabilities and those who live in
remote areas. Second, government has a greater involvement in education than before. More funding is provided to universities. Such funding is used toward hiring more teaching staff,
renovating facilities on campus and offering scholarships and financial aids to students in need.
I agree with the statement for the following reasons. First, I think watching TV isn't a great way to spend time in general. When we watch TV, we turn our brain off. We're basically just
sitting in the sofa and doing nothing. Lots of people like to eat junk food like chips and ice creams while they watch TV, which is even worse. Second, I think it's way better to play
outside, be in the field, compete with our friends. We can have more fun, at same time get some great exercise. Thats what sport is really about.
If my friend is having money problems while studying abroad, I would give him the following suggestions. First, finding a part-time job helps. There's so much he can do, on and off
campus. Many people work on campus to keep themselves from getting distracted from schoolwork. Being a library assistant is a popular choice. Or if he needs more money, he can
work as a waiter in a restaurant. I heard it's good money. Second, try to keep his spending at the minimum. This mean only buying the things he absolutely needs. Saving money is
equally important as earning it.
I agree with the statement that it's much more productive when everyone has responsibilities and duties while working on group projects. First, it provides everyone with clear
directions. Having a goal is important, but it isn't enough. Work must be divided into single actions which are assigned to individual members of a group. This is the best way to push
forward. If not, people might get lazy and put things off. Second, when something goes wrong, it's easy to find out what the problem is. When delays happen, we can switch roles or
assign a more capable person to certain work,so the project doesn't suffer.
My favorite song is Shape of My Heart by Sting. I know it's a pretty old song, but I can listen to it forever without getting tired of it. First, it's easy on the ear. Its neither too loud nor too
quiet. The melody is peaceful and soothing. Plus, the song has a great pace to it. It's very relaxing, yet it doesn't get too lazy or slow. Second, it's the theme song of Leon: The
Professional, which happens to be one of my favorite movie too. Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me of the story of Leon and Mathilda. Both the song and movie are sad and
beautiful at the same time.
I prefer to save the extra money I have for the following reasons. First, impulsive buy is wasteful and unwise. Just because we have some extra money doesnt mean it's alright to throw
it away. It gives me a sense of safety knowing I have some money sitting in my saving account. Second, we never know when were going to need the money again. Life is full of
surprises. Last month, my computer suddenly stopped working. It was gonna cost about two hundred dollars to get it fixed. I had no choice but to borrow that money from my friend. If I
had more money saved up somewhere, I couldve avoid edit.
I like sportswear the most. Brands like NorthFace and Columbia are my favorite. First, they are made to last forever. They are tough, well made, well thought out. They might not be the
prettiest, but boy do they last! I have a few jackets that were bought many years ago that are still in near perfect condition. Ive never really taken good care of them. I usually just toss
them in the washer right after exercising or hiking. Years later, every button and zipper still works perfectly! Second, they are perfect for outdoor activities which I love the most. They
keep me warm and dry no matter how horrible the weather gets.
I prefer to receive assignments by email for the following reasons. First, students will have a better understanding of the specifics and requirements of an assignment. Last year, I
received a poor grade on my history paper because Ive misunderstood what the teacher wanted us to do. It's not that I didnt work hard on it, its just that, its impossible to take down
every little details. Second, it will save teachers plenty of time explaining things over and over again. They do get mad for doing too much of that. Sending an email saves time and
efforts for everyone.
I think it's a brilliant idea to have quiet cars or silent cars on trains. First, during long trips, some people like to rest or take a nap, others read books and collect their thoughts. Having
someone sitting next to you who talks on their cellphone loudly is super annoying. If rules like these are reinforced, people who like a moment of peace can finally get what they want.
Second, having these cars also means people who absolutely needs to make calls or type away on their keyboard can feel free to do so without being judged on regular or cellphone-
friendly cars.
