"East Africa food crisis - our response." East Africa food crisis - our response | Oxfam
International. N.p., n.d. Web. 09 Apr. 2017.

Summary
The article briefly summarizes the victims of the recent famine in Somalia, but mainly
pays attention to how the non-profit organization, Oxfam, has helped those people and is written
from the point of view of the organization.

Strengths
The article gives quotes from some of the officials trying to deal with the famine and
from some of the victims. It also explains the best ways to help those in need, and the extent to
which help is needed in the affected countries.

Weaknesses
The article is written as if the organization were a person, and speaking directly to an
audience. This fact, along with subtle hints throughout the article, make it seem this article is
more of a publicity stunt than a truly informative article. Not a large amount of numbers or hard
facts are given throughout the article either.

Relevance To Research Topic

While the article does seem more to increase publicity for the non-profit Oxfam, it is still
useful to use as an extra point in the writing about the food crisis in Africa. It is effective at
giving a sense of how non-government agencies have affected the food crisis, and exactly how
they do so. At best, the article would be used as the main idea for a single paragraph.
