Standard #6 Assessment

The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners
in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teachers and
learners decision making.

Interpretation

I understand I will need to use formative and summative assessments without bias.
Assessments are necessary to ensure each students growth and development. I must
be observant and reflective to keep students engaged and challenged.

Reflection on the Standard

Standard #6 focuses on assessments. I chose to include these artifacts because they

provide examples of work students can complete for both formative and summative
assessments. Using the Rocks and Minerals lesson, I can assess the students
knowledge as they complete each step of the lesson. The Scientists Journal can be
used to assess the students understanding daily and cumulatively.
