The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to
engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related
to authentic local and global issues.

Interpretation

I understand the importance of taking real-world situations and applying them to the
curriculum will help students connect with the lessons and find value in the lessons. I
understand that having a curriculum that uses real-world situations gives students an
opportunity to draw on their cultural strengths to problem solve, creatively think, and
become innovative thinkers.

Reflection on the Standard

Because this standard focuses on associating educational lessons with the real world, I
chose to include a lesson on oral hygiene and a math problem describing a real-life
problem to help the students find value in the curriculum.
