Standard #7 Planning for Instruction

The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning
goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills,
and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Interpretation

I understand that being prepared and organized is an important part of my students

success in meeting their learning goals. Learning and understanding my students
communities, backgrounds, and cultures will assist me in creating lesson plans using
the State of Indianas core curriculum goals, the school districts curriculum goals, fellow
teachers, and available textbooks and tools.

Reflection on the Standard

Because this standard focuses on planning for instruction, I chose to include two
examples of lesson plans I wrote to provide examples of my ability to use the State of
Indianas curriculum standards and transcribe it into a lesson.
