1.0 SCOPE

1.1 This test method determines the Nominal length of u PVC pipes.
1.2 This method is specified according to the methods given in SLS 147 :2013 and SLS ISO
3126:2013

3.0 INSTRUMENTS AND APPARATUS

3.1 Measuring Tape

Select a measuring tape in accordance with Tabe 1.

-The nominal pipe length l , shall be minimum length which does not include the depth of
socketed portions, as shown in figure 1.

-The measurement shall be measured at room temperature.

- Use equipment conforming to 3.1. to determine the overall length and /or the effective
length of an individual pipe.
- To determine the overall length of the pipe, take measurements along the internal or
external surface, parallel to the axis of the pipe.
For Round cut Pipes-least three positions spaced at regular intervals around its
circumference.
For square cut Pipes - need only to be measured in one position.

5.0 CALCULATIONS

Calculate the arithmetic mean value from the measured values.

6.0 REPORT

Record the result as overall length of the pipe after roundoff the arithmetic mean value to the
nearest 1mm a.
