To chasse, your feet must be lined up in roughly the same

direction as you want to travel. Take a step, forwards or
backwards, towards the location with your dominant/racquet hand
foot. Once your dominant/racquet hand foot has hit the ground,
follow it up with the non-dominant/racquet hand foot. Just before
your non- dominant/racquet hand foot hits your dominant/racquet
hand foot, you must take another step with the dominant/racquet
hand foot. This movement is also known as side-steps and looks
similar to a crab walking.

Activities:

1. One participant is the leader and the partner becomes the High
3mins
chaser. Using chasse steps, the leader moves laterally and
changes directions trying to escape from the chaser. They start
roughly 3m apart and can only move in chasse steps
(At this point, no equipment should be touched).

2. The students will now form a triangle. The 2 grip types

High/Medium 6mins
(pan handle and thumb grip) will be used throughout this
activity. The student at the tip of the triangle will start with
the shuttlecock. The other two students will take it in turns
using the chasse technique to move to either the baseline or
sideline and back. Once they have returned to their original
spot, they can use whatever shot they wish to return the
shuttlecock to the tip of the triangle.

3. Too cool down, students must complete the dynamic stretch Low
3mins
of side-stepping along the baseline. This should be followed
up by some static stretches in order to make sure the groin
region has not been hampered.
