Subject: Starting a fashion blog
Date: July 9, 2010

My individual project for English 320 will be a fashion blog. I hope to gain more
knowledge and express my creativity throughout the duration of this project. Below
is a more in depth description of the proposal; my objectives, methods, and timeline;
as well as the possible advantages of following through with this project.

Proposal:
For this project I will be starting a fashion blog. I aim to reach a wide audience to not
only share my ideas and opinion, but to learn more about fashion through others
who follow my blog. I plan to design a blog that is fashion orientated and displays
cutting edge trends. I aspire to help others keep up to date with the upcoming
trends and post ideas of how one could wear the garments and accessories.

I would most likely branch off of my grandma’s existing blog when starting mine. I
think she would be a great tool in helping me start one. I would want my blog to be
easy to understand and effective. I would have a visually appealing page that
contains key information in an easy to read/understand manner. I would include
minimal text because I believe with my blog eye-catching graphics and fashion
pictures will be more effective. I will do this by discussing the latest trends and how
the reader can apply these trends to their own fashion style and wardrobe. Also,
using graphics will help the reader get more ideas and understand the trends better.

Another thing I would like to incorporate with my blog would be to have a “look
book.” It would be interesting to have followers post pictures of how they wear the
latest trends. Seeing all the different looks and how one puts their own “flare” on an
outfit would give myself and viewers more ideas on how to wear the latest trend.

Demographics play a role in fashion and being from the mid-west our fashion is
different from those who are from, for example, New York or L.A. I would hope my
blog would give ideas and reassurance to those fashion lovers that no matter where
you live you too can where the latest trends with ease. The site would be easy to
access online by searching “Latest Fashion Trends” in a web browser. Also, once I
have the link I would be able to send the link to family and friends or anyone that is
interested in viewing it. For example, for the grading of this assignment I will send
the link to Miss Enger via email.

Objectives:
I always have had a love for fashion and art so it was easy to chose fashion as a topic
to explore through this project.
My goals for this project include:
 Provide the latest fashion trends creatively and accurately.
 Encourage self-expression and making garments their “own.”
 Reach a diverse and wide audience.

My personal goals for this assignment include:

 Network with others and make connections that could help me in my career.
 Gain more knowledge for personal and career growth.
 Explore new things and taking on challenges.

These goals fit with my overall goals as a student and as a future employee because
as a student or an employee I am always looking forward to meeting new people
and taking on new challenges. Also, gaining more knowledge and experience is
beneficial to furthering my career.

Methods:
Because I am an Apparel & Textiles major at NDSU I have taken many courses that
have helped me gain more knowledge about fashion, which I could share with
others. I feel I would be able to share such information effectively and accurately.

I will utilize the following to achieve a unique fashion blog:

 Research how to set up a successful blog.
 Review other fashion blogs.
 Follow up on latest fashion trends.
 Become more familiar with different computer programs that will enhance
visual appearance of blog.
 Make a post on facebook for everyone to check out new blog.
 Tell friends and family to view blog and give feedback on how to improve it.

Timeline:

The following time discusses the schedule for completing the above methods
