Acceleration analysis

1. A four bar mechanism with ternary link is shown in figure. The

lengths of various links are as follows: O1O2 = 600mm; O1A =
300mm; AB = 400mm; O2B = 450mm; AC = 300mm; BC =
250mm; AD = 100mm and <AO1O2 = 750. Angular velocity of
crank O1A = 20 rad/s clockwise. Angular acceleration of O1A =
100 rad/s2. Determine
a. Acceleration of coupler AB,
b. Acceleration of lever O2B,
c. Acceleration of points C and D, and
d. Angular acceleration of ternary link.

2. Make complete acceleration analysis of the quick return

mechanism shown in figure below. Find the acceleration of
point K graphically. Take lengths O2O4 = 300mm; O2A =
150mm; O4K = 500mm., the angle <AO2O4 = 1200. Link O2A
rotates with a uniform angular speed of 500 rpm clockwise.

3. A control mechanism is shown in figure below. If the angular

velocity and angular acceleration of the link O1AB are 15
rad/sec and 100 rad/sec2 respectively, both in the counter
clockwise direction, determine
a. Angular velocity of link BC, and

b. Acceleration of point A and point C
AO! = 450mm; AB = 292mm; BO1= 225mm; BC = 375mm.
The horizontal distance between O1 and C is 150mm

4. An inversion of a slider crank mechanism is shown below. For

angular velocity of 300 rpm for the crank O2Q in the counter-
clockwise direction, determine

b. Acceleration of point P. PO4 = 180mm

5. Draw the acceleration diagram for the Whitworth mechanism

shown below. O1O2 = 300mm, O1A = 200mm, AB = 700mm,
BC = 800mm, <AO1O2 = 450. The crank O1A rotates at 120
rpm clockwise. Determine
a. Velocity of ram C,
b. coriolis acceleration,

d. Angular acceleration of BC, and
e. Acceleration of ram C

mechanism shown in figure below, the crank AB rotates at 120
rpm clockwise. Determine
