Week 3: The Honors Curriculum Part 1: Instruction

Goal: Primarily to begin building a strong and comfortable community environment while also
introducing the Honors Curriculum. Areas will be explained in more detail in future weeks but this
lesson will lay the foundation for what is head and will get students excited (hopefully) about the
honors program.

Week 4: Connecting with your Community

Goal: community, community, community!

First half: student panel

Hear from students immersed within diverse communities

Second half lecture: scavenger hunt

Bond and make community in Honors 100!

Sample Activity:
Week 5: The Honors Curriculum Part 2 and 3: Experiential Learning and setting up your
portfolio
Goal: Today will be about helping students understand Experiential Learning and the Portfolio
process. At the forefront of both will be the why, or the purpose behind both of these
components.

Sample Activity:

Week 7: Health and Wellness


Goal: Drive home: what health and wellness means, and how this meaning is particularly relevant
in college. Discuss physical, emotional, and mental health. Give resources for students to keep in
their back pockets. Keep the conversation light so as not to stress students out.

Week 9: Global Challenges / Reflection & Presentation Prep
Goal:
Understand value of reflection academic and personal spheres
Tangible portfolio/reflection tips and strategies
Prep for assignment 5 and presentations

Sample Activity:

Week 11: First Quarter Portfolio Presentations


Goal: This class is focused on the students and is a space for reflection about their first quarter in
college and in the Honors Program.
