Sewing Cooperative Project Plan

This is the third project run by Muslim women that Nirnaya support. Nirnaya recognizes that
it is the women who are most acutely affected by communal and caste disturbances. Once the first
batch of 15 students complete 3 months of training the second batch will enrollment and start the
program. On the women achieve the requisite skill level; production for marketing will take
place. Te board members of Nirnaya will help the center setting up market linkages. At the end of
three months computer literacy classes will also commence. Tailoring, embroidery and computer
skills have the potential of income generation even if done on a small scale within the slum.

Budget

Per diem for center maintenance volunteer Rs.1200/- x 1p x 12m 24,000/-

Per diem for tailoring instructors Rs.1500/- x 2p x 12m 36,000/-

Center rent Rs.1500/- x 12m 18,000/-

Cost of one computer 30,000/-

Cost of 3 sewing machines Rs.5 000/- x 3 15,000/-

Cost of Internet cable facility for one year 6,000/-

Cost of sewing machine accessories 5,000/-

Cost of workbooks 5,000/-

Total Rs.139,000/-
