SOIL EROSION
Erosion is the process of weathering and transport of solids (sediment, soil, rock
and other particles) in the natural environment or their source and deposits them
elsewhere. It usually occurs due to transport by wind, water or by down-slope
creep of soil and other material under the force of gravity; or by living organisms.
A certain amount of erosion is natural and, in fact, healthy for the ecosystem.
COMPLIANCE OPTIONS:
Adopt the following measures:
Soil erosion control measures for pre-construction and during construction
must conform to the best management practices highlighted in the
National Building Code (NBC) of India, Part 10, Section 1, Chapter 4
Protection of Landscape during Construction and Chapter 5 Soil and
Water Conservation
Fertile topsoil to be stockpiled prior to construction, for reuse later.
Develop appropriate measures to address soil erosion, post occupancy.
