Introduction

One of the aims of SSS is to promote members commitment in paying their

contributions for their welfare in the future. It may sound like a sweet deal with all the benefits
and privileges, but somehow, a few people here and there seem to miss the point. Although the
imposition of these contributions is mandatory, it only falls on those who work under the private
sector. As the social security insurance of the country, the coverage should not be limited to
such. Therefore, the government also encourage those who consider themselves self employed
and even voluntary members who have been separated from employment and willing to
continue payment of their SSS contributions. A mandatory membership is also imposed for
OFWs. But despite tedious efforts, there is still large percentage of Filipinos who are not
members.
Nowadays, schemes such as use now, pay later are getting as popular as ever. People
are corrupted with being able to get what they want immediately regardless of the compounded
interests theyre being charged over time. They dont mind as long as they have something to
hold on to. This mentality is the problem that causes many Filipinos to hold back. SSS poses
itself as an insurance program. Meaning, you have to pay now to be able to use it later. Some
people, especially those who belong on the urban poor index, find it hard to comply to this
commitment thinking of that payment of monthly contribution could hamper their budget. What
they dont see is that SSS is for the security of their future. An SSS employer-member and
individual-member alike with certain qualifications could also apply for different types of loans
with easy payment terms and minimal interest. These are but few of the aforementioned
benefits and privileges provided to all SSS members. The objective of this research is to
encourage the target adopter to engage in the SSS AlkanSSSya through the self employed
scheme. The researchers propose to do so by disseminating information of the program and
raising awareness on all the benefits it covers.
Prepare and prevent, dont repair and repent. This is the mentality that we should
impose to each and everyone, to promote conciousness on the importance of an insured social
security.

Background
As of the moment, there is still large percentage of Filipinos who are not
members of SSS. Some of them are tricycle drivers, jeepney drivers, market vendors,
ambulant vendors, porters and hog raisers who are self employed thru their businesses.
Belonging to this category are the residents in Gawad Kalinga (GK)
Kapitbahayan who either are not yet SSS members or some who are already SSS
members but are not actively paying their monthly premiums. One of the reason is that
they dont have sufficient knowledge about the importance of SSS in their life. Their line
of thinking is that payment of SSS contribution shall reduce their family budget and the
hassle of going to SSS accredited payment centers or banks just to pay their monthly
premiums. We, the researchers, will conduct a marketing research to promote
awareness about SSS for them to realize the worth of being an actively-paying SSS
member.
GK residents are good target adopter for our marketing research. They are
composed of individuals earning a living through their extended self employment making
them perfect candidates for the SSS AlkanSSSya Program.

Understanding the situation

As per our conducted survey, out of the 100 resident-respondents we have asked to participate,
75% are not yet SSS members but are interested in becoming SSS members and willing to pay
monthly contribution, 15% are not registered with SSS and are not interested in becoming SSS
members, 5% are previously employed and had been remitted of contribution by their former
employer, however, upon separation, ceased to continue payment of their SSS contribution as
voluntary member and 5% of the respondents we have surveyed have little information about
SSS and have reservation of contributing to SSS. These residents still do not realize the
importance of the social security protection offered by SSS. It is for this reason that we are
preparing this marketing plan of establishment and implementation of SSS AlkanSSSya
Program in GK Village to enable the residents therein to become SSS members and be able to
pay monthly contributions to SSS.

Conclusion
We, the researchers, strongly recommend and endorse the implementation of SSS AlkanSSSya
Program in Gawad Kalinga Kapitbahayan located in Barangay 649, District V, BASECO, Port
Area, Manila.

Target adopter
Residents in Gawad Kalinga Kapitbahayan situated in Barangay 649, District V,
BASECO, Port Area, Manila.

Objective
To promote awareness among residents in Gawad Kalinga Kapitbahayan about SSS and
to convince those who are not yet members to apply for membership to enable them to
contribute to SSS. Further, the program seeks to stimulate continuance of payment of
contributions among SSS members in the village who have ceased or abandoned payment of
their SSS premiums.

Goal
The goal of this research is to spread awareness to the residents in Gawad
Kalinga Kapitbahayan of the importance of having SSS in their life, of being able to avail
of the different benefits that SSS offers to all their paying members.

Recommendation
Initially, we are recommending to have a seminar arrangement with the barangay
officials of Barangay 649, District V, BASECO, Port Area, Manila so that they will know
the purpose of our research so that we could gain their cooperation in our purpose of
disseminating information about SSS and effect payment of monthly contributions thru
the SSS AlkanSSSya Program.

Strategic marketing mix

Product: The goods and/or services offered by a company to its customers.

Price: The amount of money paid by customers to purchase the product.

Place (or distribution): The activities that make the product available to
consumers.

Promotion: The activities that communicate the products features and

benefits and persuade customers to purchase the product.

Or we can use the 4cs instead of 4ps

Customer solutions, not products: Customers want to buy value or a

solution to their problem.
Customer cost, not price: Customers want to know the total cost of
acquiring, using and disposing of a product.
By giving them the cost of the required monthly remittances and the
explaining the return of their investment thru availment of SSS benefits.
Convenience, not place: Customers want products and services to be as
convenient to purchase as possible.
Giving them alternative method to pay their remittances conviniently thru
the organization's purchased AlkanSSSya unit stationed in their area.
Communication, not promotion: Customers want two-way communication
with the companies that make the product.
SSS now reaches out to the barangays and organizations to inform them
of the advantages and benefits of being an SSS member. The SSS
Account Officer designated to a particular area closely coordinates with the
barangay and maintains constant communication to the officials to
encourage the barangay residents to be SSS covered thru the self
employed payment scheme of the SSS AlkanSSSya Program.
Evaluation
We have evaluated that most of the residents in Gawad Kalinga Kapitbahayan located in
Barangay 649, District V, BASECO, Port Area, Manila are not yet SSS members nor nor do not
know the importance of being an SSS covered individual. As such, we highly recommend the
implementation of SSS AlkanSSSya Program in the area. In this way, no GK resident shall be a
burden to the society and that SSS shall be a mighty fortress which they could depend upon in
times of contingencies like sickness, maternity, disability, old age and death.

Implementation
The residents in Gawad Kalinga Kapitbahayan located in Barangay 649, District V,
BASECO, Port Area, Manila shall purchase an AlkanSSSya unit which shall serve as the
depository place of the money of the residents to be collected monthly and remitted to SSS as
their contribution. The qualified residents who joined the AlkanSSSya Program shall have the
convenience of depositing their contribution payment in the depository slot designated to
them. The aggregate amount of money deposited by each qualified AlkanSSSya member shall
be accounted every collection period. Any amount in excess of the required minimum
contribution of P330.00 shall be returned to the depository slot assigned to the AlkanSSSya
member. If in case the P330.00 requirement is not yet met, the organization shall call the
attention of the member for the augmentation of the deficit amount.

Summary
The result of our conducted survey reveal that most of the residents in Gawad Kalinga
Kapitbahayan located in Barangay 649, District V, BASECO, Port Area, Manila are open to the
idea of becoming SSS members. Through constant information dessimination about SSS to the
residents, the researchers are confident that a big number of the GK residents could be
persuaded and enticed to become SSS self employed members thru the implementation of the
AlkanSSSya Program in the area.
