Dear Parents/Guardians:

My name is James Harper. I am your students middle school Social Studies teacher. I
look forward to a productive and educational year with your child. I graduated from Texas A&M
Central Texas with a bachelors degree in English and, for a short time, was an editor of the
Killeen Daily Herald. I served in the military prior to my educational endeavors and it remains
one of my proudest achievements. I chose to pursue education, not only because it was a life-
long goal, but, more importantly, it allows me the opportunity to help mold young minds and
assist them in achieving their respective goals.
My hope is to educate your child in academics and in life. I know I cannot do this alone,
and as their main guidance in life, I will lean heavily on you to help me help them. To that end,
please feel free to contact me at any time at my email with any questions, concerns, or words of
advice in helping your child.
The school district has several rules for the students to follow, which can be found in the
student handbook. I assure you that my expectations are in place to create a positive learning
environment. One in which, all the students can reach their full potential and achieve their goals.
In addition, I have a few classroom procedures in place to make each day as fulfilling as
possible, the most important of which is the absentee work procedures; which allows your
student a simple a direct means of making up any work if/when they are absent. I also have
entering and exiting class procedures that will help our students get the most out of each day.
