Course Description
Reading 1 is one of English skill courses in ESP program. The course is offered to the first
semester students of all departments. This course is intended to help the students to
comprehend their reading text, to master in technical terms related to the text, and to enrich
their vocabulary related to their discipline.

Standard Competence
By the end of the semester, the students are able to comprehend various English texts. The
competence is revealed by the students achievement in their daily exercises and tests.

Contents:
Reading materials are taken from English for Civil Engineering, Reading Power, and etc.

Classroom Activities
The class activities will be brief explanation of the topics (lecturing), discussions, and written
exercises.
