Lesson idea implementation:
This lesson will be in the format of a flipped classroom. The students will be expected to review a song and
video about the ABCs over the weekend and come prepared to discuss what they learned about the letters of
the alphabet in class on Monday. This is intended to be an introductory lesson, but I will introduce the flipped
classroom by ensuring they know where to find their assignment and what they are expected to know for the
class discussion. I will assess student learning and understanding by asking a series of questions in the class
discussion.
To extend the student learning, I will have the students identify the differences between upper and lower
case letters. To conclude the lesson, I will have each student draw the upper and lower case letter of their
first and last name as I walk around the room and assess their understanding of the letters.
Importance of technology:
Technology plays a vital role in this lesson, because the class blog acts as a communication pathway between

the teacher and the students home. This would not be possible if we did not have the blog technology. If you
did not use a website-creating technology in your classroom, you would be losing out on an efficient and
productive way to reach your students and get important to them and their parents.
Inspiration (optional): I created my own blog for this lesson.

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Some of the issues that arise when using technology in the classroom are internet safety and student privacy.
It is important to remember to keep your professional and private accounts separate and secure. As a
teacher, you need to know and follow your district policies on posting student work and pictures. To minimize
risks of exposing your students to an unsafe internet environment, it is important to follow common Internet
Safety/Acceptable Use Policies and alleviate any fears by parents as well as administrators. Teachers should
know the age restrictions on websites and know what tools are appropriate and approved for their students
to use.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I have never created a blog before, so it was helpful and informative to be able to explore the website-
creating technology. I think that this technology is important in the classroom and I hope to utilize it to its full
potential in my future classroom. I hope this will help students learn by giving them extra resources they can
use to succeed. I also liked the idea behind the flipped classroom. This allows teachers to introduce topics
and have their students be ready to talk about them in class for the next lesson already being exposed to the
material.
Other comments about your proposed activity:
I really enjoyed this activity because it allowed us to be creative while also getting important information to
our students.
