School Lunches
As you are all aware our
wonderful Koha Kitchen are
providing lunch Monday,
Wednesday and Fridays for
your child. A weekly gold coin
donation for the Koha Kitchen
lunches would be gratefully
received at the office to ensure
that we can keep this generous
lunch system operating.
Message from our Acting Principal, Kim
Dear Families/Whanau,
Namaste, Ola, Kia Orana, Bonjour, Talofa Lava, Konichi-
wa and Kia Ora.
Swimming
Today we started our Swim Safe programme at Naenae
Pool. Water Safety and swimming is part of the New
Zealand Curriculum and as such we expect all students
to participate in these sessions. Instructors are provided
by Swim City and are skilled at working with students, from those who are
non-swimmers, up to those requiring extension. New Zealand has
significantly high drowning statistics and by teaching children water safety
and how to swim, we can contribute to lowering these statistics in the
future. If your child is not swimming, you will need to provide a note to the
classroom teacher, outlining the reason. If there are any concerns about
swimming please either discuss these with the classroom teacher, or
myself. As I mentioned above we expect all students to attend and
participate in swimming lessons.
Dance
This week students have begun dance lessons and are learning lots and
practicing hard each afternoon. To demonstrate their new dance skills they
will perform on Friday 18th August at 1.30pm in the hall, so come along and
see what theyve been learning.
Parking outside of school
Just a reminder that the carpark is closed from 8.30am to 9.00am and after
school from 2.55pm to 3.15pm, for the safety of the students please park
on the road during these times. The chain should be up across the
entrance but on the rare occasion it isnt please dont park in the grounds.
When parking outside the school, make sure you dont park on the yellow
lines as this often blocks the view for those on road patrol, making it
difficult for them to safety cross children on Waiwhetu Road a very busy
road.

Mung Beans

How do mung beans sprout? Do you know how to sprout
mung beans? They are used for recipes and for protein.
First we get a tablespoon and dipped it into the bag. Then
we put the bottom of it into the plastic container. Next
you add the water into the plastic container and put the
lid on with holes in it. After that we placed it by the
window. Wait until the mung beans grow!
Absentees and Late Children. It is important to us to keep your child safe. To do this successfully we
need to know whether your child is at or absent from school. If your child is going to be ABSENT OR
LATE to school, please ring us on 939-7702, or email office@epuni.school.nz before 8.55am. If we are
unable to take your call please leave a message which includes your childs name, room number and the
reason your child is away or late.

Hutt Intermediate School Enrolments are now open and all Year 6 students should have received
a Prospectus and Enrolment form. Enrolments close for all out of zone students on 1st September 2017.
Please return your completed form along with a copy of your childs birth certificate / passport and proof
of your residential address to Hutt Intermediate, 7 Kauri Street, Lower Hutt.

We were very fortunate to have Zirka Circus come to

Epuni School on the 2nd August and do a live
performance for our students. The performance was
outstanding and very enjoyable for our students.

DANCE IN SCHOOLS PROGRAMME RETURNS TO EPUNI

All students are involved in this awesome

programme - learning dance moves and how to be
creative with dance. This programme ran last week
and this. A fantastic opportunity for all our
students.
