Spring in Review
Our 5th spring season in Fit Girls
and our sessions surrounded four
themes: Happiness, Healthy
Choices, Love You and the
Community Around Us.
Some of the wonderful books and
materials we used included: Rosie
Revere Engineer, Gerties Leap to
Greatness, and Strong is the New
Pretty: A Celebration of Girls
Being Themselves. The girls
finished their six weeks and with
some of the funds raised in their
spring Read-a-thon, Fit Girls made
a $500 donation to the
Androscoggin Hospice House and
also participated in their 5K run in
Auburn in May.

Thanks to all the Maine folks who
voted for Fit Girls in the Bangor

Community Matter More
campaign. This $5,000 gift means
so much for our upcoming
programming. Fit Girls is so much
more than a running and reading
program. Our volunteers work
hard at delivering positive
messages helping to instill self-
confidence through a spirited,
enthusiastic, thoughtful
curriculum. These girls strive to
accomplish much and the support

we received this spring is huge!
A Garden of Friendship Quilt
will be raffled off at the Fit and
Fun 5K on October 21st. The quilt
was created at summer camp
with the help of artist, Mardy
Bogar and friends, Nancy
Cureton and Sarah Chamberlain.
Raffle tickets will be available
Fit Girls is proud to partner with through the Fit Girls or by calling
the Lets Go initiative through 645-9648. Tickets are 3 for $5.00 or
Franklin County Community $2.00 each. Tickets will be
