September Sharing Meeting

Sunday, September 17th @ 2:30-5:00

Generally, monthly sharing meetings are held at Kenilworth United Church of Christ, 45 Dalton Drive,
Tonawanda 14223, from 2:30-5:00. Newcomers and anyone interested will be offered the option of meeting
privately with a PFLAG parent. Our monthly meetings are in the library, which is near the parking lot entrance.
The facility is handicapped accessible. New Parents Meetings are scheduled as needed at a location
convenient to those involved. These self-help one-on-one meetings deal with the concerns of parents and
family members who have recently learned that a loved one is gay.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

We meet because we have learned that someone very close to us is Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender. We try to help one
another deal with this information in a positive manner. Although we do not agree at all times, we try to be understanding. We
offer help to those who seek it, but do not force ourselves on others. We strive to maintain anonymity while sharing on a level that
is comfortable for all of us. We encourage all to attend meetings for their own.

Don Scime, writer, director and lead actor, originally from Buffalo, has given PFLAG
permission to screen his wonderful independent film, The David Dance.
This award-winning film was filmed in Buffalo and the storyline takes place here as well.
The main character is a disc jockey who has a local radio show with a focus on LGBT issues.
The film explores his life and struggles, past and present; all will be touched by the story and
its themes.
We are screening this treasure at the Central Library on Sunday October 15th. The time will
be in the early afternoon, but the location within the library and exact time are being
coordinated with other events, so we cannot provide the exact time by this newsletters
deadline.
The David Dance will be shown at the North Park on August 30 and 31 st, but, our
presentation is the only local one that will not have admission charges and will have free movie
snacks!
Please save the date to join us for this special presentation and afternoon.
PFLAG is excited to able to share this fine film; we want to make this afternoon memorable.
Please join us and pass the word to friends and family.

Please look for updates regarding this screening in our newsletter and email updates from and
on our Facebook and webpage.
