Description of on the job work activities:

Today was our meeting with Ms. Alvarez. This means that we would only spent half a day in our
work today. After the meeting, we went to the Commission on Human Rights office in Quezon
City together with Ms. Alvarez for her observation of my co-interns working in other department
of CHR. I, together with Jervis, asked the permission of our supervisor in assisting our OJT
adviser to the offices of our co-interns.

There were no people in the Center for Gender Equality and Womens Human Rights Center
today except for Sir Rex. Some of them are in Iligan City for their assignment in Marawi Siege,
while others were taking rest after the events we organized for the last two weeks.

Accordingly, Sir Rex asked me and Jervis regarding what happened last Friday in our event
about Advancing Reproductive Rights since he was not there due to CHR team building. We
told him that the event went smoothly and became successful. Also, we described in detail what
happened in the event. We asked Sir what to do for this day. However, he told us to just relax for
this day after the event we organized.

For the rest of the day, we were just answering the calls from telephone and do others task when
asked like photocopying documents, delivering the memorandums, etc.

Description of on the job work activities:

It was an unproductive day today. There were no people around here in our office except for Sir
Rex and Maam Joan. And we were also asking them what to do, but they had nothing to give us
except when they called us to do errands. Jervis, on the other hand, was given a task to research
on the recent developments and reports of CEDAW in the Philippines this 2017.

Finally, Sir Rex called us to write the incoming memorandums we received in our official record
book. Each one of us wrote two memorandums each person. I was the one who wrote a
memorandum on an invitation addressed to our OIC Atty. Krissi Shaffina Twyla Rubin for a
speaking engagment in a forum about Gender Business Course from the Women and Gender
Institute of Miriam College. The other one was an invitation from Eros Films for a Film Seminar.

Accordingly, Ms. Joan asked me to photocopy documents like official receipts and liquidation
reports. Jervis accompanied me to photocopying center. These documents were needed for the
auditing of their expenses for their past events.

For the rest of the day, I was answering calls directed to our OIC Atty. Twyla but she was not
here. I just called Maam and Sir Rex instead to answer their inquiries on behalf of our OIC.

We were also actually waiting for Ms. Julie, one of our supervisors, to come to office since she
might give us tasks to do. She was not there in the morning until she came at past 1pm. As soon
as she came, we asked her what to do but she had nothing to give us. She told us that we might
just file documents tomorrow.

Important lessons learned:

It is really boring in the office when you have no task or few task to do. Due to this, we were desperate to
do something and anything; asking our heads what to do. But they would just call us when we have to do
2
something. This makes me realized how important small clerical tasks are. This turned away boringness
when your head have no task to give you.

Description of on the job work activities:

In the early morning, we all thought that there would be no people in our office, the Center for
Gender Equality and Womens Human Rights. But Ms. Joan came in the late morning. We did
not do anything in the early morning. And we were desperate to do one even a small task.

In the late morning, we were asked by Ms. Malou of other office - from Economic, Social and
Cultural Rights to photocopy the attendance sheets for their past event held in Iloilo City. I
accompanied Jervis in this task.

When Ms. Joan finally came, we now found hope that we would be doing something for today.
She then asked us to do the TMR and vouchers sorting out those dated from 2017. Unfortunately,
there were no TMR from 2017. The TMR she gave us only consisted of those from May, June
and July 2016. So I put it all back and we were not doing something again. Afterwards, Ms. Julie
also came.

In the afternoon, Ms. Julie finally gave us a workload. She asked us to do the directory from our
recent event, Advancing Reproductive Rights: Implementing the Philippines Human Rights
International Obligations. We got the directory from the attendance sheets we used and this
included their designation and office, e-mail address and contact number. We divided the work
into the three of us. Jervis did the first page and I did the second page. John Oliver did the third
page. Jervis got the half of it amd typed it using Sir Rexs desktop since he was not there.
Meanwhile, John Oliver did the remaining ones.

Accordingly, Ms. Julie also asked us to do the directory from the attendance sheets of Road to
Equality: a forum on Access to Justice of LGBTIs - the first event we organized since I started
my internship in Commission on Human Rights. I volunteered to do it by myself and left John
Oliver doing the remaining ones. I waited Jervis until he was done using the desktop of Sir Rex.
4
I was doing it only by myself typing the directory from our other event that had an
overwhelming number of participants than the event John Oliver and Jervis were doing a
directory. It would take me a lot of time since I was doing it by myself and there were many
participants there as I mentioned above. But I still did it without asking anyone to help me. Then,
I gave the file to Ms. Julie.

Ms. Julie then asked us to do the directory from Document Distribution List we used from Road
to Equality: a Forum on Access to Justice of LGBTIs. I did it together with Jervis and John
Oliver. We added in the directory the telephone numbers we were referred to and highlighted
those that answered us. We were done doing it. However, Ms. Julie clarified that we need to add
those from other files of the attendance sheets from their past events like Women with
Disabilities forum and others.
