Narrative Report #4

It was a sad day. Our NSTP Director, Dr. Lloyd Vincent Sasil, died. He is a well-
known and well loved person in the university. He did a lot of things for the university and
has impacted a lot of lives. During our opening remarks, we included him in our prayer.
May he rest in paradise and in peace. And as usual, we did all the other necessary things
during an opening remarks. After that, we got seated and got called to stand up for our
attendance checking. And after all those things, we went silent for the discussion proper.
As I’ve said, it was a sad day. We weren’t able to start the discussion proper immediately
for we talked for a while with our NSTP Instructor about the late Dr. Sasil. He informed us
about his wake and the day of burial. He also asked for our voluntary donation financially
in order to help Dr. Sasil’s family.

After all those, we started the discussion. Mr. Ibis discussed about the “Community
Needs Assessment” and “Community Area Map Legends”. Those topics are very
essential once we start our community immersion project implementation. In the middle
of our discussion though, several representatives from University of Cebu Council of
Presidents entered our classroom to recruit students who are interested to apply and be
part of UCCP. It’s a good experience for the UCCP handle most of the headlining activities
of UC-Main. It will definitely expose students to responsibility and social work. After
they’ve gathered names of those who are interested, we continued the discussion. The
attendance form is being passed down as of this time.

After the discussion, Mr. Ibis then explained our next activity. Using the provided
pdf file as our guide, we will be making our own transect walk map. We will also
incorporate the hazards of the certain area or location we have chosen. And of course,
we will be writing our narrative report. Mr. Ibis also informed us that there will be another
book activity but he will just announce it next meeting. He also told us that the big groups
will have an activity next meeting so we must bring the necessary materials we will be
using. We are to make another transect walk map as a group. It’s up to us if we will base
it on our group member’s individual transect walk map or we will be making another. After
all those important reminders and announcements, Mr. Ibis gathered us together to make
a short commemorative video for Dr. Sasil. That ends our face-to-face meeting.
