Ms. Darbus: So the winter
musicale sign-ups will be posted
soon, and Im encouraging all of
you to join. After all, musical
theatre is a good way to express

*Troy looks behind him and sees
Gabriella*
Troy: Huh? Isnt that the girl I
saw last New Year Party? I have
her number... Maybe I should

*Troy gets out his fake phone,
fake dials a number, and a phone
ringing sound is played*
Ms. Darbus: DID I JUST HEAR A
CELLPHONE!? EVERYONE GET THEIR
CELLPHONES OUT RIGHT NOW!
*People start getting out their
cellphones*
Ms. Darbus: My gahd, I hate
phones! Cellphones are bad for
learning! We have zero tolerance
on cell phones in this class.
*As she starts getting
cellphones, she breaks them on
the spot and drops them on the
floor*

Ms. Darbus: Ill be seeing all

detention!
*She gets the cellphone of
Gabriella, who is the last to
have her cellphone taken. She
motions to break it-*

Ms. Darbus: AAAA!
*She throws the cellphone to
offstage, an explosion sound is
played*
Ms. Darbus: Welcome to East

*Bell Rings*
Ms. Darbus: Everyone, class
dismissed.
Chad: *Stands up* See you in
detention, Troy.
*Everyone except Gabriella and
Troy leave. Everyone brings
their furniture with them off
stage.*
[Background: Hallway]
Troy: So anong favorite number

Gabriella: *Pauses for a moment,
staring at Troy* ...What?
Troy: Oh, nothing, nevermind
Gabriella: Its number two.

*While this is going on, someone
takes out a table and puts a
piece of paper on the table*
Gabriella: Oh look! Signups for
the Winter Musicale! Maybe we
should sign up.
Troy: I dont know. I sang with
you during the New Year party
but Im the Team Captain of the
basketball team here at East
High. Singing really isnt my
thing.
Gabriella: Thats true. Im also
interested in the Science Quiz
Bee were having, but Im sure I
can make time for this musical.
Remember what we sang? Its the
start of something new. Maybe we
should do different things for a
change and go beyond our comfort
level. Cmon, Ill join if you

Troy: Sorry, Im afraid thats
impossible.
*Sharpay comes up from under the
table. Turns out she was there
the whole time*

Troy and Chad are talking. Troy
is saying that he is considering
that he might join the winter
musicale. Chad says that Troy
shouldnt think about that
because of the upcoming game and
that performing well could mean
a sports scholarship for him,
and that the greatest basketball
players didnt do musicals to be
where they are. Troy then says
that Sharpay is cute, but then
Chad says that she is dangerous.
*Everyone who is a basketball
person enters. Chad and Troy are
in front.*
Chad: Dude, leg day and squats

*Sticks out butt*
Troy: Bro Ive been lifting!
Beating Energy Gap, you know the

*Flexes muscles*
Chad: Im super hyped na for the

the Winter Musicale?

upcoming game is your chance to
land a varsity scholarship after
graduation! Singing should be
the last thing on your mind.

school! Haven't you ever wanted
to try new things?

with vinegar instead of gravy?

crazy diet ideas. Look, if you
play basketball, you could end

Jordan or Manny Pacquiao. But if
you sing musicals, you'll end up
in my moms refrigerator.
Troy: I dont know, it seems
pretty cool in there.
*Troy exaggeratedly winks at
Chad*
Chad: That was terrible. But
what about our coach, your Dad?
Remember? Hes a pretty strict
guy and he was a basketball
player like you. The legacy must

Troy: *Lets out a big sigh*

the stage dazed and confused,
with a basketball in hand. He
drops the basketball and goes
off the stage*

Scene with Taylor and Gabriella
Scene: Classroom
Taylor heard that Gabriella is
super smart and invites her to
join the Science Quiz Bee
competition. Gabriella asks how
she knows about how smart she is
and suddenly Sharpay shows up
and says that yea what a good
way to meet new people by
meeting the smartest people in
the school. Gabriella agrees.
Taylor says that's great and
they meet after schools.
Taylor: Gabriella! Quick
question, whats the powerhouse
of the ce--
Gabriella: The Mitochondria!
Taylor: You are as Smart as
weve heard, beshie!
Gabrielle: Well, n-not really
*Gabriella looks down timidly*
Taylor: Hey, how about we put
that to good use and you join us
for the Science Quiz Bee?
*Sharpay enters*
Sharpay: Yes, yes, yes! Do

*Exaggerated wink to Uncle Aidz*
Sharpay: I really think you guys
should hang out more, plan out
all your Smart things and
prepare for the contest!
Taylor: That isnt such a bad

*Gabriella looks timid, but
happy.*

Auditions Scene
Scene: Stage
*People are auditioning. Troy
sneakily enters the real stage
but stays at the side while this
is happening. Gabriella follows
soon shortly after.*
When everyone finishes, Ms.
Darbus asks if there are any
more last minute auditions.
Gabriella and Troy fight over
going or not, then eventually
Gabriella volunteers. However,
Ms Darbus says that she will
only take pairs for auditioning,
so reluctantly, Troy volunteers
to be paired with Gabriella. Ms.
Darbus asks Kelsey to begin.
Ms. Darbus: That was an
interesting set of auditionees.

Ms Darbus: Amazing! Yet another

*Gabriella runs out on stage*
Gabriella: I volunteer! I
volunteer as tribute!
*Does the mockingjay sign to the

Ms. Darbus: Very brave, Ms.
Montez. Unfortunately, Im only
accepting auditionees by pairs.
*Troy takes a deep breath and
rushes in*

her.

doing this?
*Troy takes Gabriellas hands*

Kelsey: Wow that blew me away.
Gabriella: Just no.

Scene: Stick to the Status Quo
Background: Cafeteria
To Sharpays dismay there are
callbacks (as seen on a piece of
paper) because of the success of
Troy and Gabriellas
performance. So as it stands,
Sharpay and Ryan are up against
Troy and Gabriella in the
callbacks. Chad and friends butt
in and wonders what is going on,
then he sees that Troy is trying
out for the musicale. He then
leaves the stage confused.
Sharpay is angry because she
thinks that she is the one that
rightfully deserves the role,
and that someone ought to teach
them the rules.
Sharpay: Callbacks? Theyre
actually having a hard time
picking between me and her?
Pagkatapos ko magkilay ng
dalawang oras nung auditions?!
Ryan: Lets just show them up,
sis. Troy doesnt even know the
difference between fortissimo,

Chad: And menudo!

*Both sigh, Ryan comes back into

to me like an honest mistake.
Now scurry along before I call
for another afternoon of
detention.
*Sharpay looks at Gabrielle
intensely*
Sharpay: Babangon ako, at

*Gabrielle reluctantly backs off
and just leaves*
Sharpay: Gabriella is a
performer in disguise, and I
know that shes trying to
undermine us somehow.
Ryan: Uh but arent we
performers?
Sharpay: Exactly!
Ryan:...?
(Sharpay makes a big sigh and
says the first line of the song)

Scene: Gabriella is Hurts
Background: Gym
Chad talks to Troy about
how much the team needs him,
because he hasnt been going to
practice lately over having to
rehearse for the callbacks. He
starts mentioning famous people
and how getting their head in
the game helped them achieve
their dreams. Troy argues that
he will definitely give his 110%
no matter what for the team,
especially during the game.
Chad: Troy, we need to talk.
*Troy sighs*
Troy: Look, if this is about the
time I got mad at you cause you
let our team down during DotA, I
swear Im over it.
Chad: No, its about the game.
Youve been distracted. We cant
have that.
Troy: But the musical is near
and--
Chad: Thats the problem! The
games near too, or have you
forgotten that already? Do you
think Manny Pacquiao won boxing
matches and elections by not
preparing?
Troy: But Gabriella--
Chad: Doesnt matter right now.
Unless shes more important
than the team?
Troy: I never said that!

Chad: Then tell us the team is
more important. Say it. Say it

*Troy has a pause of reflection*

and we'll go out and get that

scene.*

Troy Bolton: But Gabriella, what
about the final callbacks? Weve
been rehearsing for days.
Gabriella: I don't wanna do the
callbacks either. I mean who are
we trying to kid? You've got
your team and now I've got mine.

you down. Yeah, win or lose,
its the school we choose. Were
teammates, even if you turn out
to be the worst singer in the
world.
Troy: Welp, I wont be able to
sing anyway, guys, because
Gabriella wont even talk to me.

in*
Chad: *motions Troy towards
Gabriella* Well, maybe you
should give it another try.
*Zeke gives Troy some baked food

*Troys Friends Leave
Troy tells Gabriella that what
he said the other day wasnt
true, that the pressure got to
him and he said things that he
didnt mean to say. What matters
to Troy now is about what he
feels. He is not letting the
basketball team down, but after
all that, he is still willing to
sing. He asks Gabriella to sing,
and that he is sorry. Gabriella
accepts his apology and they
reminisce about how crazy their
high school lives have been so
far, and they wonder how the
seniors of their high school are
doing.
Troy: I didnt mean those things
I said the other day, you know
*Gabrielle is silent*
Troy: I just hope you can
forgive me. You can count on me
this time, Im like--full on
Rexona. I wont let you down.
*Gabriella starts to smile*
Gabriella: Okay, that was a
little funny.
Troy: You can be-- the Helen to
my Troy again?
Gabriella: Helen fell in love
with Paris. Troy was the city
that got razed and burnt down.
Troy: ...you get my point,
right?
Gabriella: Maybe its better if
you just tell it straight up?
Troy: Ill be honest: the team
still matters of course. Its
important to me, and to all of
us. I dont want to disappoint
them. But that doesnt mean I
have to give up on singing or on
what weve worked hard to
achieve. High School has been
crazy, but weve always pulled
through together. Im sorry.

Ms. Darbus is heavily impressed
by the performances of Sharpay
and Ryan, then goes on to call
out for Troy and Gabriella. They
fail to show up however until
she is done calling out for
them. They finally show up and
then Ms. Darbis says that its
too late for them, and that
rules are rules, and that they
dont even have a pianist.
Kelsey shows up and says that
they can do it. Ms. Darbus
eventually allows them to go on.
Gabriella is too nervous but
then Troy tries to support her.
Just look at me, right at me,
just like the first time we sang
together. Remember? The song
starts.
Ms. Darbus: Bravo, bravo! Truly
a stunning performance by the
Evans siblings.
*Sharpay smiles smugly*
Sharpay: Im sure it wont be
such a hard decision anymore.
Ms. Darbus: Well see about
that. Mr. Bolton and Ms. Montez?
*Awkward silence*
Ms. Darbus: Troy Bolton and
Gabriella Montez?
*Ryan and Sharpay are looking
smug*
Ms. Darbus: Well. Looks like the
decisions been made without
much picking!
*Gabriella and Troy rush in,
panting*

Ms. Darbus: Im afraid youve

had to go to the bathroom and
Troy and had to get me a new
skirt. Hirap na. First day, eh.
*Ms. Darbus visibly sympathizes*
Kelsey: And Im here! I can play
for them!
Ms. Darbus: Well seeing as
youre all here anyway.
Gabriella: Yes!
Troy: But tinagusan ka ba
talaga?!
Gabriella: Ano ba, hindi! Lets

*Everyone gets into position*

slowly the whole cast shows up
at the side, then when the song
is over, everyone starts
clapping.*
Everyone congratulates the two
of them, but then they realize
that the Basketball game and the
Science Quiz Bee is about to
start.
Troy: We did it!
Gabriella: We didnt, didnt we?
Troy: But I feel like were
forgetting something
*Simultaneously* Troy: YOUR QUIZ
BEE! || Gabriella: YOUR GAME!
*Everyone rushes out*
[Fade Out]
Scene: Split Scene
Background: Half is Classroom
and Other Half is Gym
Gabriella is sitting and is
asked (3) questions and she gets
all of them right. Troy is
shooting hoops and everyone is
cheering him on, and he scores
every time he shoots. (He just
throws the balls off screen and
everyone just acts like he
scored). Gabriella and Troy
finish at the same time and
everyone cheers. Then everyone
meets together and start
cheering.

Host: Now, three questions for
Team East High!
*Crowd cheering*
Host: How important is your
family to you?
Teammate 1: My family is very
my-my pamily HOMAYGAD. This is
actually my first quiz bee. I am
only 13 years old and. Haha!
