Salt Lakes - Hydrosphere

Local Scale

This map is Mono Lake. Mono Lake is around Nevada,

California. There are not that many saltwater lakes out there. While
looking at the map, theres another lake attached to it. The reason
why Mono Lake is considered a saltwater lake is because the water
cant go anywhere. Because of this, the lake has very intense levels
of salt.
Regional Scale

As we zoom out a bit more, we see a majority of the state California.

We do see another salt water lake as well called the Salton Sea. Only
difference between this lake and Mono Lake is that this lake has
other rivers coming in and out of the lake. You may think that since
there are rivers coming in and out that salt would leave as well but
they dont. Before it was a lake, it had a lot of salt plus there was
even salt being brought in by irrigation water from the canals. This
Sea kills sea animals and other outside animals will not be able to
drink from it.

Continental Scale
As we zoom out even further, you are able to see every single salt-
water lake. In fact, there are only 3 in the entire U.S. But regarding
the entire world, there are 16 total. Do you know how many lakes
there are in the world? 117 million lakes. Can you imagine that only
16 of them are salt-water? The 3rd lake is called Lake City Utah and
is considered a salt-water because the water has no way out. The
rivers that go in and out of the lake City Utah only dump water into it.
Only way water is allowed to leave the lake is through evaporation.
