Tutorial 4 : Public Speaking (Part 2)

Activity : Analysing video clip

Your tutor will play a short video clip. This video clip is about someone delivering a speech to
an audience. While watching the video clip, based on what you have learnt in Lecture 4; try to
answer the following questions, and your tutor will discuss the answers with you at the end:-

1. In the introduction, which method/technique was used for the attention statement of the
speech?

2. Which types of visual aids were being used during the delivery of the speech?

3. In your opinion, what was the purpose of the speech based on what was mentioned in the
purpose statement?

4. What were the speakers three (3) main points?

5. Which organisational pattern was used to arrange the main points?

6. Which type of research do you think the speaker used to prepare the contents of his speech?

7. Based on the levels of communication, what category of communication is this?
