1828. - Umro je Franc ubert, austrijski kompozitor i jedan od najznaajnijih predstavnika muzikog romantizma, svakako najistaknutiji kompozitor
lida. iveo je i radio u Beu. Komponovao je nekoliko stotina solo pesama, meu kojima su i ciklusi "Lepa mlinarica", "Zimsko putovanje",
"Labudova pesma", zatim opere, operete, scensku muziku za "Rozamundu", simfonije (najpoznatija je "Nedovrena u H-molu"), "Moments
musicaux" za klavir, kamernu muziku...

1917. - Roena je Indira Gandi, indijski politiar i socijalni radnik, erka Davaharlala Nehrua. Studirala je u vajcarskoj i na Oksfordu. I pre
Drugog svetskog rata bavila se politikom, pa je bila zatvarana. Godine 1947. uestvovala je u pokretu za nezavisnost Indije pod vostvom Mahatme
Gandija. Posle rata je bila lan i rukovodilac brojnih zdravstvenih i dejih ustanova. Od 1959. do 1960. bila je predsednik Sveindijske kongresne
stranke, a od 1960. lan Izvrnog odbora UNESKO-a. Bila je ministar informacija u vladi B. astrija, a posle njegove smrti 1966, izabrana je za
predsednika vlade Indijske unije.

1942. - Sovjetski general Georgij ukov, pokrenuo je operaciju Uran, veliku sovjetsku kontraofnazivu koja je promenila tok bitke za Staljingrad.

1949. - Princ Renije krunisan je u Monaku.

1969. - Pele je postigao svoj 1000. gol na fudbalskoj utakmici protiv Tima "Vasko de Gama" na Marakani u Rio de eneiru. Jedan od najveih
svetskih fudbalera, Pele je roen 1940. godine u Brazilu kao Edson Arantes do Nascimento. Sa samo 17 godina odveo je nacionalnu reprezentaciju
do pobede na Svetskom prvenstvu, postigavi dva gola u finalnoj utakmici protiv vedske. Jo dva puta je nacionalni tim Brazla bio svetski prvak
zahvaljujui Peleu, a njegov matini klub "Santos" osvojio je tri nacionalna klupska prvenstva, dva kupa June Amerike i titulu klupskog svetskog
ampiona 1963. godine. Pele je objavio da se povlai iz fudbala 1974. godine, ali je 1975. potpisao sedam miliona dolara vredan ugovor sa timom
"New York Cosmos". Ovaj tim odveo je u Ligu ampiona i uinio mnogo za promovisanje fudbala u SAD-u. Prvog oktobra 1977. odigrao je
poslednju utakmicu, i to protiv svog starog tima "Santosa". U toku svoje duge karijere, Pele je postigao 1282 gola u 1363 utakmice.

1985. - Ameriki predsednik Ronald Regan i sovjetski predsednik Mihail Gorbaov sastali su se prvi put.
