*The pupils' marks in the test are converted to a scaled score where 100 is the average score in the country. All pupils' scores in a
school are then averaged to give an overall school scaled score.
Progress from KS1 to KS2:
The progress measures compare pupils key stage 2 results to those of other pupils nationally with similar prior attainment at KS1.
Progress scores will be centred around 0, with most schools within the range of -5 to +5.
A score of 0 means pupils in this school on average do about as well at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.
A positive score means pupils in this school on average do better at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.
A negative score means pupils in this school on average do worse at KS2 as those with similar prior attainment nationally.
*Confidence Intervals
A school may have been just as effective but have performed differently with a different set of pupils. To account for natural
uncertainty 95% confidence intervals are provided and a range of scores within which each schools underlying performance can
confidently lie. Where a confidence interval overlaps zero it means the schools progress is not significantly different from the national
average.
