The vision of Arkansas City Public Library is
to connect people with information, as embod-
ied in our motto Opening the World to You.
We strive to be a window for our users, helping
them to see and experience the world through
our resources and services. Literacy is the pass-
port to a university of knowledge. Our mission
is to provide library resources and services to
meet the changing recreational, informational,
and educational needs of the public, to enhance
individual and community life.
At ACPL, we provide a variety of FREE
resources and services:
Childrens Storytimes (includes a craft proj-

nities for children to explore and experiment,
offering a neutral space where kids are not
being graded for their participation and where
staff can focus on what most interests children.
Kids need to be engaged in learning, and learn
in ways that can hold their attention the way
social media and internet sites like YouTube do.
The easiest way to do that is to make it fun!
Well also be opening up our new Makerspace
area after the first of the year. The Makerspace
is a collaborative community space where
patrons will have the opportunity to work on
various projects using different medium. At
coordinated efforts in service and philanthropy for a
larger collective impact.
But most importantly, we need you to SAVE THE
DATE! We will hold the first meeting of the Cowley
County Service U.N. on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 at 5:30
p.m. in the Wright Room, Brown Center at Cowley
College in Arkansas City. You will want to be there for
the unveiling and to be connected!

and ACPL will begin a new Childrens monthly
STEAM program soon! STEAM taps into chil-

video and photo editing software, digitization
equipment, etc., all available for free use by
patrons.
And if you literally cant even , then you
might enjoy our new #Adulting program series!
Adulthood isnt always easy and is rarely
fun. But grow up, we must! And ACPL will start
offering programs that teach numerous skills to
youth. Well have classes about how to change a
tire, health and wellness, budgeting and invest-
ing, basic home repairs and maintenance, buy -
ing a house, etc. We would also welcome ideas
from the community! If theres a need or inter-
est, ACPL wants to help facilitate it.
