THANKSGIVING WORSHIP
Please mark your calendars: Our
Thanksgiving Eve Eve service will be
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 21 @ 6:30 PM.
Stewardship meals are being planned for
November 18-19, following the Saturday
evening worship (chicken & broccoli
casserole) and @ noon on Sunday
(breakfast casserole). Meals are being
catered by First Choice Catering. If you
plan to attend this meal, please mark
todays Registration Slip indicating the
number attending and which day you will
attend (Saturday or Sunday).
Please consider sharing your talents by
participating as a member of: St. Johns Church
Council, a member of the Benefaction Board or
as a representative of our congregation at the
Synod Assembly. Church Council duties include
attending monthly meetings, getting to know
the congregation through being Council
Member of the Weekend, assist with church
gatherings, being a liaison for a Ministry
Leadership Team, and attending any specially
called council meetings. Benefaction Board
members meet on a quarterly basis during the
year and review presentations on the spending
of outreach dollars citywide, state wide and
country wide. Representatives to the Nebraska
Synod Assembly from St. Johns will travel to
Kearney May 31 June 1, 2018 to represent our
congregation. A planning meeting is also held
on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Visit with

& PAJAMAS
The Salvation
Army, along with
their usual Toy &
Food Drive this
Christmas Season
is again collecting
new pajamas. Our
greatest need is children sizes 6-14 and
all adult sizes, for men and women.
Please consider making a monetary
donation or buying a new pair of pajamas
so that all of Norfolks children can sleep
in warmth. Checks can be made payable
to Norfolk Salvation Army Pajama Project
and can be dropped off at Salvation Army
or WJAG radio station. Deadline is

At this time, we have youth that will be
attending the National Youth Gathering
in Houston, TX, in 2018. There is still
room for many more, but time is running
out! Registration and deposits must be
in by November 15.
LWR INGATHERING
UPDATE
As the Lutheran World Relief Ingathering
closes for another year, find comfort in
the numbers of area participating
churches and the boxes upon boxes of
kits and quilts that will provide comfort
all over the world. For St. Johns, the
donated items provided for:
104 school kits
24 personal care kits
18 baby care kits
12 sewing kits
19 quilts
9 quilts to Good Neighbors
1 case of soap
Thank you to all who helped load the
truck and provide treats and beverages
for those delivering kits from all over
northeast Nebraska. And a big thank you
to all who donated kits or items to be
included. Start saving items as we start
all over again in February with personal
care kits!
St. Johns Lutheran Church would like to
join Mosaic International and spark joy on
Giving Tuesday November 28, 2017.
Your gift will be doubled!
Thanks to a caring group of donors, your
gift to Mosaic on Giving Tuesday will be
matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 to
support services in Tanzania for a year.
